About Dr. Richard Bell
Dr. Bell was born in Wichita, Kansas. He graduated from Monterey High School in Lubbock and earned a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Texas Tech University. He then attended the University of Houston, where he received his Doctor of Optometry degree. Upon graduation, Dr. Bell moved to Houston and worked as a NASA engineer at the Johnson Space Center. He was a member of the engineering team responsible for the operation of the Space Shuttle simulators used for astronaut crew training. Dr. Bell is a member of the Bexar County Optometric Association, Texas Optometric Association, and the American Optometric Association. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family and boating at Lake LBJ.

Yes, I would return. My exam was thorough, professional and each step of the exam was explained to me. Plenty of time for questions. All staff were friendly. Dr Bell never seemed rush, explained my exam to me. Was friendly and warm. Easy to relate to. I definitely will return.

The receptionist was very polite and nice. I didn’t wait long after my appointment time probably less than 10 minutes. Everyone in the office was nice. I didn’t appreciate all the add-ons that were not asked for to my bill however, after I expressed concern, they were removed and I ordered my first pair of glasses today.?

Booked a diabetic eye exam to also update my Rx for my eyeglasses.
The staff was super, very friendly, kind, helpful & patient with all my questions.
Even when i came back because I panicked after spending over $1500 on 2 pairs of glasses with transitions. No I don't need bifocals or any kind odd glasses. I have a simple Rx. As a photographer though, my eyes are my primary tool. So, I'm willing to pay to get good glasses & the right stuff on them - BUT DAMN!!!????? Wishing I was a Vet with benefits so I could get free glasses like my Veteran father!!

I called prior to have everything arranged before my underaged son got there with his bio father . He was to have a glasses exam which I indicated on the phone and in the form and they did a contact exam and wanted payment .

Was great place used equipment I have never seen before at other eye exams places.
Was not a basic check like the McDonald’s of eye centers that are out there. Where they have just quick in and out with basic exam.
Was very thorough used different equipment to ensure proper diagnosis.
