About Dr. Roland Abundo
Dr. Roland E. Abundo graduated from the University of California, Irvine, in 1990 with a Bachelor's Degree in Biological Sciences. He then attended the Southern California College of Optometry, where he earned his Doctor of Optometry degree in 1994. Following this, Dr. Abundo completed a residency in Geriatric Primary Care Optometry at the Sepulveda VA Medical Center in California.
Dr. Abundo is well versed in all areas of optometric care and is fully licensed in the State of Utah with therapeutic prescribing privileges. He has strong relationships with other eye specialists who provide surgical care such as LASIK, cataract surgery, blepharoplasty, and retinal eye care should you need further treatment.
He has served on the Board of Trustees for the Utah Optometric Association, where he ensured that the role of eye care in Utah is recognized and that the needs of patients throughout the state are heard.
Dr. Abundo moved to Salt Lake City in 1995 with his wife, Catherine, who currently works as a Special Education Teacher for the Jordan School District and truly enjoys helping her students. Together, they treasure the relationships they have with family, friends, and acquaintances. Dr. Abundo has two wonderful children now in college, Kyle and Ellie. He enjoys outdoor outings with his family such as camping, skiing, traveling, basketball, biking, music, and the fine arts.
Dr. Abundo prides himself on the personal relationships he has with his patients, considering them his greatest asset. He designed Abundo Eye Care with his patients’ complete care in mind. The practice offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and he wants each patient to know they will be well cared for when they come into his office.

The staff was very pleasant and knowledgeable. The provider took his time with no rush. Explained everything to me so I could understand what he was expressing to me. He went as far as to show me online images. All in all a very good experience.

I felt it was extremely organized and offered sofisticate machines to eye map my eyes in beyond the normal way. Doctor was friendly and competent and willing to go the extra mile. I felt somewhat rushed...would liked to have had a bit more time to discuss my situation longer with him though.

I've been seeing Dr. Abundo for 10+ years. He's very personal and knowledgable, never tries to up-sell and genuinely cares about his patients. I brought my son to see him one time a few years ago and he still remembers and asks me about him, just an overall great provider but most of all an outstanding person.

Dr. Abundo is an amazing doctor! He was very thorough and explained all the procedures he was doing throughout the whole exam. His office has a wide variety of frames to choose from and great customer service. I highly recommend this practice!

Dr Abundo takes time to explain any issues I have. Also a good listener when I need things explained. I do have to wait to see him even though I am there on time but he does take time with each patient like he does with me so probably is always running behind.

I have been coming to Dr Abundo since I was a little girl and everything has always been consistent. He's very thorough with his appointments and sets a warm and welcoming environment for his patients and staff. I definitely recommend visiting this clinic if you're looking for a safe space for you and your family!
