Getting to know Dr. Sarah Romero-Rodriguez

I am a Clinical Psychologist specializing in women’s mental health and trauma, with a focus on perinatal and reproductive experiences. I provide EMDR therapy and somatic, nervous system–based care to help women process trauma and reconnect with a sense of safety in their bodies. I support women navigating birth trauma, pregnancy loss, fertility challenges, postpartum distress, as well as broader experiences of trauma, including sexual trauma, abandonment, and unresolved relational wounds that continue to impact their emotional well-being. My work honors how past and present experiences are held in the body and shape how women relate to themselves and others. Women seek my services when they feel anxious, reactive, or disconnected from themselves. Through EMDR and body-based work, I help them process painful experiences, regulate their nervous system, and feel more grounded, confident, and in control of their lives.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I work with women navigating life transitions that impact their sense of identity, emotional well-being, and ability to move forward. Many of my clients are in the midst of their reproductive journey, including experiences such as infertility, miscarriage, pregnancy, or postpartum challenges like anxiety and depression. I also support family planning, In our work together, we also address deeper layers of trauma, including unresolved relational wounds, especially when these experiences continue to shape how you feel, respond, and relate to yourself and others. Clients often come to me feeling overwhelmed, reactive, or disconnected. Over time, they begin to feel more grounded, emotionally regulated, and confident in how they move through their lives and relationships. At the core of my work is the belief that your emotions are not the problem; they are a pathway to change, healing, and deeper self-understanding.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

You are not alone. I'm here to support and guide you in harnessing the power of your feelings. If you reach out to me, I will listen to your concerns, and provide a safe and non-judgmental space. Remember, seeking help represents a sign of strength, not weakness. If you are ready to take the first step towards healing and well-being, write to me today.
