About Dr. Sayed Jovkar
Dr. Jovkar is a board-certified ophthalmologist. He completed his ophthalmic residency training at premier medical school, McGill University. Even before LASIK was FDA-approved in the U.S., Dr. Jovkar studied refractive surgery with several pioneering Canadian eye surgeons. While still in Canada, Dr. Jovkar contributed research and writing to a book on laser eye surgery before LASIK was approved by the FDA in the USA. Dr. Jovkar is among the best trained ophthalmologists in the San Francisco Bay Area. Training with several well-known ophthalmologists in cosmetic ophthalmic procedures, Dr. Jovkar has continued to keep abreast of new ophthalmic surgical techniques. Because of Dr. Jovkar's extensive training and experience, he is frequently invited to give lectures to other doctors in the San Francisco area on advanced medical and surgical techniques.
Before specializing in ophthalmology, Dr. Jovkar practiced general and internal medicine. This experience has proven instrumental in providing him with a broad understanding of a patient's overall medical problems.
Dr. Jovkar is highly experienced in ophthalmic surgeries. He has been practicing medicine that includes surgery for over 18 years and has performed thousands of eye surgeries. He regularly performs an impressive breadth of eye surgeries including cataract, laser eye surgery, glaucoma, pterygium, and cosmetic eye surgery. Because of his impressive body of work, Dr Jovkar was chosen by San Jose Magazine as one of San Jose’s Top Doctors.
Besides earning a Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from McGill University, Dr. Jovkaralso holds a Master's degree (M.Sc.) in biomedical engineering.

Practice did not provide invoice. Even upon request invoice was never sent. Also, the office does not provide invoices digitally. In consequence of that I am unable to claim my medical expense with my insurer.

I had some foreign material in my right eye, and it was becoming a serious hindrance. Since I had no success in dislodging it myself, I needed professional assistance. Dr. Jovkar helped me immediately by successfully removing that material. My eye is now just fine and I am very grateful!

Dr. Jovkar is a very poor communicator. His complete inability to communicate effectively with me is the reason I will choose a different doctor after my current treatment is finished.
He wouldn't listen. I tried to tell him that I wasn't able to yet get the medication he prescribed because I hadn't had time to take the *paper* prescription to the pharmacy and wait for it to be filled. He just interrupted me and wrote me *another paper* prescription instead of electronically forwarding the prescription to my pharmacy like most doctor's offices do now.
He also wouldn't provide basic information about my treatment plan. He kept scheduling follow-up appointments, but wouldn't tell me how well my eye was healing or when he expected it to be fully healed.
Finally, he wouldn't answer basic questions. When I asked him a question about why the sight in my treated eye was still worse than the other eye, he ignored my question until the *third* time I asked and then he told me it was an unproductive question.
As far as I can tell, Dr. Jovkar is a fine diagnostician and clinician. But unless you enjoy being interrupted, ignored, kept in the dark about your treatment plan, and having your health questions dismissed, I would strongly suggest seeing a different ophthalmologist.

-too much waiting after I was in the exam room. The person helping me with basic eye exam and paperwork seemed new because she was a bit slow in processing everything and had to ask questions from other peers often, which created more waiting for me.

My husband was in so much pain and he was attended promptly, while I was still filling the forms. Dr Sayed and his staff are very kind and attentive and examined and treat very well my husband.
