About Dr. Scott Garbowitz
Dr. Scott Garbowitz has been serving Rockland County's eye care needs since 2001 and is a founding partner of Rockland Eye Associates. Dr. Garbowitz received his Bachelor of Science in Biology from SUNY Albany in 1993. He received his Doctor of Optometry degree from SUNY College of Optometry (NYC) in 1997 where he was a Schnurnmacher merit scholar.
Dr. Garbowitz provides primary eye care services and specialty contact lens fittings. He is certified in the treatment and management of ocular disease with an emphasis on ocular allergy and dry eye related conditions.
Dr. Garbowitz has successfully fit and managed thousands of contact lens patients. He manages all pre and post operative care for laser vison correction (LASIK) patients and is certified with TLC laser vision.
Dr. Garbowitz enjoys playing tennis and has a strong interest in helping athletes with their visual related problems.
Dr. Garbowitz resides in Rockland County with his wife and two children.

Had a wonderful experience with Dr. Garbowitz. He made me feel very comfortable and was just an overall great experience. It was about a 45 min wait but I didn't hold it against the office. The doctor made up for it in his attentiveness and an extremely thorough exam. The staff were also extremely courteous, informative and very professional. It was easy to get an appointment via ZocDoc and a followup visit since they have a great variety of office hours. Highly recommend this location!

The ladies were really great to help me find the right frames for my new glasses and always explain everything in detail about my billing. The doctor was great too and gave a thorough eye exam to make sure my eyes are healthy and to fit me with the best prescription for both contacts and glasses. I really enjoy coming to this eye doctor. Everyone is always very friendly and professional.

The wait time before being seen was about 45 minutes, however it was my first time at the office so this may have contributed to some of the delay. Dr. Garbowitz was extremely courteous and took the time to answer any questions that I had. I am very happy with my experience and I highly recommend Dr. Garbowitz.

I presented my insurance card and was told they accepted this insurance but were calling the company. They also list my insurance on Zocdoc as being accepted -MVP medicaid- and do not state any exceptions. I was brought back into the exam room and told that the that I would submit a reimbursement form to my (supposedly in network) insurance company. The service was performed, I was not allowed to leave without paying out of pocket. The insurance company later told me this doctor is not in network for my group number -a fact they confirmed during the phone call but DID NOT TELL ME. I called New City Eyes after all this and they said oh yes, we accept your insurance -just not your group number. This has caused me a significant financial burden as I am a medicaid member with a young family, who subsequently ate very little for the next month and I am still struggling to pay for this service. It also took them over a week to cut my lenses. This business misrepresented their coverage and can only be described as a dishonest practice, which is a shame because Dr. Garbowitz was a nice doctor.
