About Dr. Shachi Pandya
Shachi Pandya, MD aims to help her patients understand their underlying medical conditions and improve their quality of life. She is eager to develop close connections with the community and her patients during their road to regaining function, mobility and independence.
A six-time published physician, Dr. Pandya is a triple board-certified sports medicine, family medicine and obesity medicine specialist. Prior to joining Optum, she was in private practice for three years in the Chicagoland area where she also partnered with various local schools and colleges on their sports programs along with serving as a team physician for a local high school. She completed her Sports Medicine fellowship training at Allegheny Saint Vincent Hospital in Pennsylvania. Prior to the fellowship, she completed her residency training at University of Louisville in Kentucky where she also served as a chief resident in her final year.
Dr. Pandya specializes in non-surgical orthopedics, regenerative medicine and concussion management. She treats a range of conditions including arthritis, fractures, sprains/strains, joint pain, sports related injuries, performance and nutrition. She also is trained in ultrasound-guided joint injection, diagnostic ultrasound, various therapies such as platelet rich plasma (PRP) and prolotherapy. She has worked with professional athletes and several college and high school teams throughout her career.
Dr. Pandya originally grew up in California. She is fluent in English, Hindi and Gujrati. Outside of work, she enjoys her time traveling, boxing, trying new recipes and is passionate about physical health and nutrition.

I needed an X-ray and they didn’t have one so they sent me to the Rhinebeck office. All good!

I felt that my concerns weren’t fully addressed during the visit, and I would have appreciated clearer explanations. I often had to ask questions to get the information I needed, rather than being guided proactively. Before my appointment, I was encouraged to get an X-ray, but I later found out it wasn’t necessary in my case. Overall, I would have preferred a more thorough and communicative approach.

I had a disappointing experience with this office. From the moment I arrived, I felt unwelcome. Even on the elevator, I was singled out by name, which felt invasive and I was scoffed at for not returning two vague and unhelpful messages left by the admin, Diamond. The tone of the messages was unfriendly, and didn’t clearly communicate any specific details. So I was surprised to learn she wanted me to get an X-ray beforehand. However, their X-ray tech had left for the day, and I wasn’t informed of this the day of. This led to unnecessary pressure from the staff about whether I still wanted to see the doctor. It was especially confusing because I thought my issue was muscular, so I didn’t understand why an X-ray would be needed at this time. The receptionist reprimanded me, too. When I finally saw the doctor, she briefly explained the need for an X-ray and prescribed medication. However, the prescription was sent to a pharmacy in Virginia not New York. Overall, the experience was poor.

Dr. Pandya was very effective. She was communicative, helpful with all of my questions, and she demonstrated a very good bedside manner. I will seek her out next time I have any musculoskeletal issue.

My son ruptured his Achilles and needed to see an Orthopedic specialist ASAP. I was able to book an appointment via ZocDoc with Dr. Pandya the same day at the Optum medical center. Registration and check in was very smooth. The wait time was less than 10 minutes. Dr. Pandya was very professional, knowledgeable, and timely. She immediately ordered an X-ray to check for any tear of the tendon from the heel bone. She then installed an orthopedic boot for my son which allows him to walk around without the need of crutches. Very glad I made the choice to select this Physician.
