About Dr. Sharon Huynh

Dr. Sharon C. Huynh (“Win”), O.D. has been practicing optometry since 2010 in the Brockport area. As an optometrist, she performs thorough eye exams and treats vision problems, eye diseases, and related conditions non-surgically while also co-managing patients with other specialties. As early as kindergarten, when she first needed corrective lenses, Dr. Huynh wanted to be an eye doctor. Her path to becoming a licensed primary eye care provider started at SUNY Geneseo in the pre-optometry program offered there in conjunction with her future graduate school. After earning her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Biology and graduating from Geneseo with honors, she continued on to SUNY College of Optometry in New York City to earn her Doctorate of Optometry degree. Dr. Huynh’s education was furthered by invaluable hands-on experience. She worked in a private practice as an optometric technician during the summer after her first year of graduate school. In her fourth-year internships at the clinics of her school, she treated a diverse population of patients as she rotated through the primary care clinic, the pediatrics clinic, and the ocular disease clinic where treatment and co-management of glaucoma, retinal disease, and cataract were emphasized. While on her externships, she had the opportunity to treat the very deserving populations of patients at the Veterans Affairs clinic in Newington, Connecticut and also at the Bethesda Naval Hospital in Maryland. While in Bethesda, interns worked alongside ophthalmologists and had the opportunity to observe surgeries while in the operating room which gave much insight into the co-management of patients after oculoplastic, retinal, vitreal, and cataract procedures. Dr. Huynh graduated with honors from SUNY Optometry with her Doctorate of Optometry degree in 2009. She also finished her certification by the National Board of Examiners in Optometry and received her New York State license to practice that year.
