About Dr. Shelby May-Parmley

Dr. Shel May is an optimetrist driven by patient education and accessibility. Pediatrics, Tough Cases, Special Needs, and Vision Rehabilitation are particular passions, but Dr. May is invested in getting full scope care to patients of all varieties. Dr. May graduated from Southern College of Optometry in 2019 and entered a fellowship. In 2020 they joined an interdisciplinary non-profit, and later returned to Memphis for a residency in 2023, where they found a love for working with students. They pursued and completed the Future Faculty Program during residency and are currently participating in the AOA Leadership Institute. Dr. May now lives in the heart of Chicago and enjoys cooking and game nights on the days they aren't saving vision.
