“Great office. I hate going to the eye doctor. A lot. It’s been 23 years since my last appointment. Dr. Bird was great. Still don’t love going to the eye doctor because eye stuff is yuk to me. But he was wonderful, pellucid, and patient. Great job and all his support staff was friendly and fun. Plus , they helped me pick out my first pair of glasses ever. And I’m actually kinda excited to have them.”

About Dr. Steve Bird
Dr. Bird has been the proprietor of Visions Northwest for over 12 years and is a graduate of Indiana University, where he earned his Doctor of Optometry degree. Before moving to Seattle, Dr. Bird practiced optometry in Bellingham, and prior to that, he served as the assistant chief of Optometry at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma. He is currently a Lieutenant Colonel in the Air Force Reserves. His interests include travel, fly-fishing, photography, cooking, and skiing.
Dr. Bird is qualified to help you with computer vision syndrome, eye injury treatment, red eyes, dry eyes, LASIK surgery management, glaucoma testing and treatment, hard-to-fit contact lens patients, and dry eye relief.

I was pretty skeptical that this would be a good experience, I’m not sure why. But, I was pleasantly surprised in every way. Clean office and friendly staff, knowledgeable doctor, and a good number of stylish frames to choose from. I’ll be happy to return.

I have been using this optometrist for at least a decade. When my vision insurance ran out, and Medicare didn't cover the appointments, I paid full price to see him. When I finally found another vision insurance policy, I made sure it covered him. I did not want to go to a mere "glasses sales person" in the shopping mall; I want a real doctor whose priorities are caring for my eye health and I can always trust Dr. Bird to put that first. He discovered an abnormality that was so minor that specialists didn't' think it was a big deal but he continues to monitor it so it never becomes a big deal.

Dr. Bird's office is conveniently located right downtown on 4th and Union. It's super easy to schedule an appointment on my lunch hour and be back within an hour. The appointment was efficient without being brief. I left with all my questions answered. There's a good selection of glasses. I would recommend to anyone looking for a good eye doctor in the CBD of Seattle.

I highly recommend Dr. Bird if you’re searching for a new optometrist. His office is very upscale and well decorated. His office staff were all very pleasant and were very happy to assist patients. Dr. Bird himself was excellent. He was very professional and explained everything in detail. He answered all of my questions. The best part of my visit was his honesty. It was my first time going to the eye doctor in years, so I was ready to spend money on new glasses and contacts. After evaluating me, Dr. Bird stated that my vision was fine and contacts weren’t necessary and only buy new glasses if I wanted a new frames. I appreciated him saving me my money. If I can trust him with my wallet, I can trust him with my eyes! I’ll definitely be back to see him soon’

I was impressed the staff was so helpful with picking out new glasses - they clearly knew what they were talking about and helped me pick out a pair that looked great! The doctor was really attentive and focused on helping me find contacts that fit.
