About Dr. Susan Hong
Dr. Susan Hong has been practicing optometry since 2004. She is a
caring, friendly and dedicated provider who ensures the best eye
health and vision for her patients. She provides thorough eye
examinations including preventive care for children and adults and
makes sure that all of her patients needs and concerns are addressed.
Dr. Hong is proficient in contact lens fittings, treating eye
infections, managing ocular diseases and referring to specialists if necessary. She also believes in keeping up with the latest technology and medical advances to best benefit her patients.
Dr. Hong graduated magna cum laude from Bowdoin College and then
received a dual doctorate and masters degree from SUNY Optometry. She also did neuro genetics research at Harvard Medical School where she discovered a gene that causes a rare brain disease and has been published numerous times.
She enjoys traveling, photography, music, interior design, and
spending time in the country with her husband and 2 kids.

Had a great experience!
The doctor was friendly, kind, and personable and made an effort to get to know me. The staff was also great at helping me select frames that were cute and budget-friendly and I never felt like I was being upsold (which has been a common experience of mine as someone who has had glasses since 4 years old).
Would definitely recommend (and the storefront area is really cute and chic)!

Went to the office on an emergency basis for a potential eye infection when I woke up with cloudy vision in my left eye. Dr. Hong was great - I was seen quickly, there were no issues with insurance, and the cloudiness turned out to not be an eye infection as I had feared. I couldn't ask for more!

The office was really prompt with communication and great about letting me know where I stood with insurance! What I didn't appreciate was that they tried to upsell me multiple times. I signed a form stating that I understood the risks of not getting my eyes dilated and was still asked four different times when I was going to come back to get my eyes dilated. Felt like they were trying to intimidate me into paying for something I didn't want. Otherwise, I appreciated Dr Hong's efficient bedside manner and promptness!

What a terrific experience! I chose this dr because she was close to another appt and could see me next-day, but this dr and the office were so outstanding that I will be trekking all the way downtown from here on out. Both dr and staff were thorough and friendly, and the equipment is state of the art. The most thorough eye exam I've ever had--and my prescription is complicated. Good selection of frames as well.

The Doctor was not friendly and seemed to be frustrated by my presence. I had to ask her the same question multiple times because she was not listening to me. Additionally, they only care to upsell you on glasses and contacts as it’s super transparent that’s how they make their $. Did not care to spend the time to explain to me how much things would cost and why, nor what alternative options would be. They care about $, not their patients. Don’t go here, go see a proper Opthalmologist.

Came in for a contacts appointment but they didn’t have any contacts trials! Never been to an office without trials. My whole experience was filled with upsell and making me switch to things that are more expensive. Ordered contacts from the office but it’s super delayed. Overall, good wait time but will not come back. I recommend going to a bigger practice with better inventory and services.

Dr. Hong was fine, but her front desk staff ruined the experience. They were extremely pushy with selling products without building any rapport. When I was being dilated, I was sat down at a counter in the front and walked through a sales pitch - while I couldn't even see anymore.
I had to repeat three times that I was only there for an annual eye exam and I wanted time to look at my options before the woman stopped selling me specific products.
I was also given a nasty attitude when I told her that I hadn't received my prescription in my email. I would not return and would not recommend this office.
