About Dr. Thuy Phung

Dr. Thuy Phung was born in Vietnam and spent the early years of her career working as a licensed optician at Lenscrafters in Guelph, Canada. Her passion for science and ambition for a medical career led her to work diligently toward her undergraduate studies where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences at the University of Guelph. She continued her education and training at Western University of Health Sciences where she graduated with a degree in Doctorate of Optometry in May 2020. Dr. Phung practiced optometry training at Jonathan Wainwright VA Hospital in Walla Walla, Washington where she treated and managed care for veterans with advance ocular diseases and complications, such as glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, hypertensive retinopathy, and macular degeneration. Her externship rotations also include comprehensive eye care and vision therapy with emphasis on neural rehabilitation to diverse patient demographic from children to adults to geriatrics at Angeles Optometric Center in Santa Ana and ChapCare Community Health Center in Pasadena, California. Dr. Phung believes with her desire for the profound knowledge she gained through years of training in various technologies and interventions for eye diseases and disorders, she strives to provide great care to protect and treat every patient’s most valuable asset: eyesight.
