About Dr. Tran Nguyen
Dr. Tran Nguyen specializes in glaucoma and refractive cataract surgery. She is a board-certified and glaucoma fellowship trained ophthalmologist. She provides comprehensive eye care, including routine eye exam, and evaluation of cataract, diabetic eye disease and macular degeneration.
Raised in Houston, Texas. She graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a B.S. in Biochemistry. After completing medical school at Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine, she completed her ophthalmology residency at Michigan State University followed by glaucoma fellowship at University of Wisconsin-Madison. Dr. Nguyen performs glaucoma lasers, glaucoma filtering surgery and minimally invasive glaucoma surgery.
Outside of her clinical work, Dr. Nguyen is an active member of American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, American Glaucoma Society and Women in Ophthalmology. Dr. Nguyen has interests in providing eye care to the underserved. She volunteered with Kenya Relief during residency training and volunteered with Austin Vietnamese American Medical Professional Society to provide vision screening.

Friendly and welcoming staff. Clean and open. Waiting area with dim lights was a nice touch after eye dilation.
Doctor was very kind and transparent with what she saw going on and what the next steps are.
I also appreciated the roll-up sunglasses they provided.

Very extensive testing and personable staff. Doctor took the time to explain and answer questions. I liked her personality and felt confident in her approach to my issues. The only issue was the recommended prescription was extremely expensive; could not afford it.

My exam with included dilating my eyes with drops and medical information was done with a technician first,Then I was examined by the Doctor who did a thorough exam of my eyes.I felt that it was a very good visit . The only thing I might suggest is for the staff to let the patient know that some parts of the exam are not covered by the insurance so theres no supprises when you are leaving.

Dr Nguyen and her staff were amazing. Without their help I would have not known of some possibly life changing issues. Dr Nguyen was VERY helpful and explained my situation to where I can understand my diagnosis and treatment options. I was very impressed with her bedside manners. I am so glad with my issues that I found a very caring, knowledged and focused. Thank you for providing me with great optic care. I really appreciate when people are passionate about helping others.
