Getting to know Dr. William Osei

I specialize in focused, short-term therapy for adults dealing with anxiety, panic attacks, OCD, burnout, breakups, and major life transitions. My goal is to help you through a difficult period, regain your footing, and develop practical tools to move forward. You might be experiencing panic attacks, feeling overwhelmed at work, struggling after the end of a relationship, or navigating a major life change. I also work with health anxiety, intrusive thoughts, overthinking, and avoidance that make everyday life harder. My approach is active, structured, and collaborative. I use cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and exposure-based treatments, including exposure and response prevention (ERP) for OCD when appropriate. Together, we'll identify patterns, set clear goals, and practice new ways of responding to challenges. The work doesn't stop when our session ends. I incorporate tailored homework, short readings, reflection exercises, and real-world practice. Through a dedicated client portal, you'll also have access to personalized learning materials and exercises that reinforce what we're working on. Technology helps make therapy more useful between appointments, not just during them. My practice is best suited for people seeking focused support through a specific challenge rather than indefinite weekly therapy. We'll review your progress regularly and adjust our work as needed. When you're ready, we'll plan your next steps together. If longer-term therapy would be helpful, I'll assist with a referral for ongoing care. I want therapy to be something you actively use, not just an hour of your week. My goal is to help you build the understanding, confidence, and skills to navigate life's challenges more independently.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Working with me is structured, active, and collaborative. Therapy isn't just an open-ended conversation. We work together to understand what's keeping you stuck, set clear goals, and develop practical ways to move forward. I'm direct and engaged, offering honest feedback, guidance, and structure while making space for reflection and questions. My approach is grounded in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and exposure-based strategies, including exposure and response prevention (ERP) when appropriate. Rather than trying to eliminate uncomfortable thoughts or feelings, we focus on changing how you respond to anxiety, fear, uncertainty, and avoidance. Sometimes that means practicing new behaviors, challenging familiar patterns, or learning to tolerate discomfort. The work also continues between sessions. I incorporate short readings, personalized exercises, reflection activities, and real-world practice tailored to your goals. Through a dedicated client portal, you'll have access to customized learning materials and tools that help reinforce what we're working on. Technology helps us make therapy more personal, practical, and connected to your everyday life. I believe therapy should have direction and a clear purpose. We'll regularly review your progress, discuss what's working, and make adjustments along the way. My practice emphasizes focused, short-term treatment rather than indefinite weekly sessions. When our work is complete, we'll plan your next steps together, including referrals for ongoing care when appropriate. My goal is for you to leave therapy not just feeling better, but understanding yourself better and having the confidence and skills to navigate future challenges more independently.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our work begins with a focused assessment. During the first few sessions, we'll explore how anxiety affects your daily life, relationships, and decisions, identify patterns that keep you stuck, and establish clear goals for treatment. Sessions are structured, active, and collaborative. We'll typically check in on what's happened since our last meeting, review your progress, and focus on specific challenges. This might involve understanding a pattern of overthinking, working through a panic response, addressing relationship difficulties, or practicing exposure-based strategies for anxiety and OCD. Therapy also extends beyond our appointments. You'll often have short readings, personalized exercises, reflection activities, or practical assignments to work on between sessions. Through my client portal, you'll have access to customized resources that help you understand what we're working on and apply new skills in everyday life. We typically meet weekly to build momentum. I'm engaged and direct, offering observations, feedback, and guidance while making room for your questions and experiences. Most sessions end with a clear takeaway or next step. We'll regularly review what's improving, what isn't working, and whether our approach needs adjusting. My goal is to provide focused treatment that helps you navigate your current challenges and develop skills you can use independently. When longer-term support is appropriate, I'll help you plan that transition and connect with another provider.

This was a bad experience for me. I made this appointment at a valuable time for me. I left work early for these appointments. They sent me a link to create a login for some faceless company named Otherkind. 10 minutes before my appointment, when I tried to log into my virtual visit, I saw that my appointment was cancelled without any notification. I filled out a ton of forms on their platform as Zocdoc asked me for the same information. I tried to reach out via their messaging app with no response. I also left a voicemail with no response. This is definitely not a good start to any mental health relationship.

Dr. Will is a straight shooter he assesses who you are quickly and meets you at the level of engagement that is digestible. He mixed textbook and real life experience as a tool of engagement and gave ideas and thoughts to truly consider and think about until our next session.
