About Dr. Yi Jiang

About: Dr. Jiang is passionate about patient care, education, and research. He has volunteered at numerous outreach organizations to help provide care to underserved populations, including offering free eye screenings and counseling. He obtained a grant and started a medical student-run clinic that provides eye care to those without access to healthcare and medical insurance. The clinic is still running today.
Dr. Jiang grew up in the Midwest and attended the University of California, Los Angeles, earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He then earned his Doctor of Medicine from Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, where he also completed his ophthalmology residency. He pursued further fellowship specialization in Medical Retina at the University of Kentucky and in Vitreoretinal Surgery at the University of Illinois, Chicago.
He has a strong passion for teaching ophthalmology and was named the University of Illinois Department of Ophthalmology Fellow of the Year for educating residents about diseases of the retina during his fellowship. He also served as Chief Resident during residency, overseeing and teaching medical students pearls of ophthalmology.
Dr. Jiang believes clinical research is vital to advancing ophthalmology and has published his work in various journals such as Ophthalmology, Asia-Pacific Journal of Ophthalmology, JAMA Ophthalmology, Ophthalmology Retina, Archives of Ophthalmology, Journal of Vitreoretinal Diseases, and numerous others.
On a more personal level, Dr. Jiang fell in love with the diverse communities in Los Angeles and the San Gabriel Valley during college at UCLA. He moved back to Los Angeles to serve these communities and to be a part of them. He strives to provide every patient with tailored care for the best possible results, eye care education, and clarity on complex medical issues.

Prior to the appointment, the staff was very friendly and professional over the phone and from all the staff were efficient, professional and friendly. The doctor was very thorough and explained everything, answered questions and provided next steps. I was able to book a last minute appt with Dr. Jiang given the circumstance that most doctors are only available months from now, and I was having some serious pain with my eye so I needed to see a doctor right away.

Everything went smoothly. I was never left waiting. I was nervous because I was experiencing something I hadn’t had before. Dr. Jiang was really the best.
