About Dr. Yuna Rapoport
Dr. Yuna Rapoport is a leading expert in cornea, cataract, and refractive surgery. She is also an expert in medical conditions affecting the front of the eye, including general eye care, contact lenses, eyeglass prescriptions, infections, blepharitis, and styes. She has a particular interest in dry eyes not amenable to other treatments and in medical corneal diseases.
She is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at Mount Sinai and is actively engaged in resident and fellow education. She holds privileges at New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, Manhattan Eye Ear Nose and Throat, Mount Sinai, and Northwell Hospital. Dr. Rapoport earned her Bachelor of Arts, Master’s in Public Health, and Doctor of Medicine from Northwestern University. She completed her ophthalmology residency at Vanderbilt University and her fellowship in cornea and refractive surgery at the prestigious Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary of Harvard University.
She participates in surgical mission trips to places including India, Nepal, and Ghana, performing and teaching cataract surgery. She used this experience to found a nonprofit organization to help a Ghanaian ophthalmologist start an outreach-based cataract surgery model inspired by the renowned Aravind Hospital in Southern India.
Her work on advances in eye care has been published in leading medical journals and presented at major ophthalmology meetings. She has been named a Castle Connolly Top Cataract and Cornea Doctor by peers and colleagues for three years in a row. She is fluent in French, Hebrew, Russian, Spanish, and English.
Dr. Rapoport takes great pride in providing caring and thoughtful attention to each patient and delivering the most technologically advanced therapeutic, diagnostic, and surgical care. She looks forward to a long relationship with each of her patients.
