“Adam has been the best therapist I've ever worked with. We worked together for almost two years, and he was compassionate, professional, and nonjudgmental the whole time. He helped me work through a lot of issues related to anxiety, stress, and interpersonal relationships, and I feel as though I've come out the other side with a strong skillset to help move forward. ”

Getting to know Adam Pollock

I’m a psychoanalyst. That means I practice highly individualized talk therapy focused on personal growth. I work primarily with men and women in their 20s through 50s who struggle with anxiety, depression, anger, and relationship problems. I also work with therapists from cognitive disciplines who want to get deeper into emotional work. I trained at the Center for Modern Psychoanalytic Studies, where I gained practical experience working therapeutically with people from all walks of life.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach is grounded in modern psychoanalysis, a set of tools developed here in New York City to relieve emotional pain, release creative blocks, and help you grow into the person you want to be. Any feeling you have, anything you need to say, is welcome -- even the things you don't have words for yet. When you put the things you haven't been able to say into words, you grow. Insurance note: to use out-of-network benefits or be seen in-network, you must obtain a diagnosis of anxiety or depression from your doctor. Under New York State law, certain diagnoses require consultation with a psychiatrist.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Sessions are 50 minutes long, once a week, held in person at my office downtown. It's a safe, convenient, pleasant space. This is the definitive psychotherapy experience: two people in a room with no subject off limits. Virtual sessions are available when necessary. My goal is to help you feel comfortable, respected, and free to rediscover yourself and use the insights we uncover to live the life you want.

Adam has been the best therapist I've ever worked with. We worked together for almost two years, and he was compassionate, professional, and nonjudgmental the whole time. He helped me work through a lot of issues related to anxiety, stress, and interpersonal relationships, and I feel as though I've come out the other side with a strong skillset to help move forward.
I was a patient of Adam's for around 6 months, and found the experience fantastic. He has a calm, friendly demeanor, and was always very professional - especially during sometimes challenging sessions for me. He was insightful and supportive, but also willing to call me on my BS when I was skirting something. I benefited greatly from his psychoanalytic care and his general holistic common sense and decency. He was funny when that was helpful, and serious when necessary. An all-around terrific provider and person. If it weren't for an insurance change from my company, I'd still be seeing him today.
I saw Adam, weekly, for about seven years with a break in the middle during the pandemic. I did not know much about psychoanalysis therapy when we began working together. Adam was patient with me and supportive from the very start. Always striking the perfect balance of letting me make my own way and turn over stones, while also helping me navigate back on course when I got lost. Working with Adam has allowed me to find a perspective on my thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that I never thought I would have and, moreover, he has helped me make real lasting change in my life. Working with Adam has helped me find the confidence to advocate for myself and recognize what holds me back. Adam provides a wonderful office space to visit and it's very conveniently located. He is prompt, attentive, and was flexible and understanding around my schedule changes. And he is incredibly kind! I would recommend Adam to anyone looking for highly-qualified and very capable LP.
Adam’s approach is on the reflective side, and I felt comfortable from the beginning with his personality -a calm and kind approach. I saw Adam for over a year, first more frequently then less and ultimately he suggested I was probably ready to stop therapy. I agree and welcomed the idea as it forced me to put in practice and reflect on what I learned in the process. Location is great, easy walk from subways and being in FiDi sort of felt like detaching of all the high energy of uptown, which is a good setting for a session.
Very nice guy

Adam Pollock was exactly what i needed....an extremely kind and nurturing soul who creates the safest of spaces to allow you to fully open up. He has mastered the art of listening and dispenses wisdom with simple but incisive questions. I highly recommend working with Adam!
If you are in search of a calm and welcoming environment to open up about anything at all, I highly recommend meeting with Mr. Pollock. My weekly sessions with him over the past 3+ years have been an invaluable resource and have contributed to my greater sense of self-awareness and self-acceptance. Mr. Pollock is incredibly kind and receptive and can help guide people looking to develop healthier living habits. He has been a great ally alongside many of the positive changes I have made over the last few years and I am forever grateful for his presence.
