Adriana Aguilar, LMSW

Psychotherapist
MI
Hi I am Adriana! I am a fully licensed clinical social worker (LMSW-C) with professional experience providing therapy in both English and Spanish across private practice and community mental health settings. I work with adult women across the lifespan, and I strive to create a warm, supportive, and culturally inclusive space where every individual feels seen, respected, and accepted for who they are. My primary areas of focus include, but are not limited to, trauma, abuse, sexual assault, depression, anxiety, generational trauma, women’s issues, life transitions, self-esteem, and stress management. I also welcome individuals who may be struggling with perfectionism, people-pleasing, low self-worth, or imposter syndrome—particularly those who feel overwhelmed by the pressure to meet expectations, take care of everyone else, or feel like they are never quite “enough.” My approach is person-centered and trauma-informed, recognizing that your experiences, culture, identity, values, and relationships all play an important role in your healing journey. I am trained in motivational interviewing and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and integrate grounding techniques and mindfulness to help promote safety, emotional awareness, and connection. I believe therapy should be a place where you can slow down, be honest about what you are experiencing, and explore who you are without fear of judgment. My goal is to walk alongside you—not tell you who you should be—as you work toward greater resilience, confidence, self-compassion, and overall well-being. Whether you are navigating a difficult transition, healing from past experiences, feeling stuck in patterns of people-pleasing or perfectionism, or simply wanting to better understand yourself, you don’t have to navigate it alone. I look forward to getting to know you and supporting you along the way!

What should a new client know about working with you?

I believe therapy should feel like a safe, welcoming, and judgment-free space where you can be your authentic self. I will challenge you kindly. I take a collaborative, person-centered approach and will meet you where you are in your journey. Your culture, identity, values, and lived experiences matter and are respected throughout the therapeutic process. You do not need to have everything figured out before starting therapy. I welcome individuals who are tired of putting themselves last, struggling with perfectionism or people-pleasing, or feeling like they are “not enough.” My goal is to walk alongside you while helping you build confidence, resilience, self-compassion, and emotional well-being.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Getting to know you: We begin by learning about what brought you to therapy, your experiences, strengths, concerns, and goals. Building a therapeutic relationship: I prioritize creating trust, safety, and a comfortable environment where you feel heard and understood. Identifying goals: Together, we identify what you would like to work on and develop goals that feel meaningful and realistic for you. Developing personalized strategies: We incorporate approaches such as CBT, motivational interviewing, mindfulness, grounding techniques, and trauma-informed interventions based on your individual needs. Ongoing reflection and growth: We regularly check in on your progress, adjust treatment when needed, and celebrate the growth and changes you make along the way. Moving at your pace: Therapy is a collaborative process, and I believe healing doesn’t have to be rushed.
