“Alex is hands down the best therapist. I’ve spent years and cycled through many different therapists trying to find the right fit. After my first initial session with Alex, I knew he was it. Alex genuinely cares and remembers small details. He listens with a non-judgmental, open, and warm heart. You can go to him with anything and he creates a space of acceptance and safety. With all the craziness in the world, it feels like it’s the one time a week you can put down absolutely everything you’ve been carrying, slow down and carve out a moment of peace that is filled with care. It is rare to find someone who has the ability to make you feel truly seen and heard and Alex does just that. I am both grateful and lucky to have him in my life.”

“I have seen several therapists and psychiatrists throughout my life and Alex is defiantly the best. He is clever, non-judgmental and overall is pleasant to speak to. I am most grateful to Alex for helping me understand the way that our mental stress manifests itself in physical symptoms. Through exercises we did during our sessions, he taught me how to recognize and understand the way that my body reacts to mental stress. This proved invaluable in helping me cope with guilt, anxiety and frustration. ”

Getting to know Alexander Rascovar

I pride myself on joining my patients so they can feel safe while undoing the burden of suffering alone. My work explores emotional states that might arise, and together we may discover the wisdom these spaces present. I am a believer in the healing power of relationships and mindfulness. Slowing down can often show us the answers we yearn for and help us find our most creative way of being in the world. I believe that all people have the right to heal regardless of race, ethnicity, gender identity, or sexual orientation. I focus on caring for my patients. I'm fortunate to love what I do and truly care about those I serve. Prior to working as a therapist, I spent nearly a decade in the arts. I believe that as a culture we are affect-phobic. We are often asked to become mini robots at the expense of our human existence, and this is a problem. We exist in a world where our true feelings are often inconvenient, and we treat these experiences as problems rather than keys to unlocking our true human experience. This comes at a tremendous cost-feeling anxious or worried-when if we actually learn to roll with our feelings, we can feel more alive and gain entry to joy. My goal is to help people awaken to their true experience and send them out into the world to help others by modeling that our optimal human experience isn't about disconnecting from our feelings but connecting to and embracing them. Eventually, a greater understanding of ourselves in the world emerges, and we feel bolstered by our humanity rather than hindered by its journey. I find that when people embrace all parts of themselves, they find peace, joy, and love. Our feelings aren't the only source of information, but to not have them messes us up. I attended the Smith College School for Social Work, where I earned my Master's in Clinical Social Work.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

During our time together, we will work to create a safe relationship where we can discover what might be happening above and below the surface. We will work to recognize feelings and experiences that will unstick us from familiar patterns and lead towards greater ranges of happiness and contentment.

I have only wonderful things to say about Alex. From our very first meeting, he was warm and welcoming. He is an amazing listener and extremely insightful. I always leave our sessions feeling better than I did before we started. I feel as though I have made a lot of progress in a little less than a year of seeing him and I am eager to continue to grow and learn!
Alex is a fantastic, caring therapist. He is thoughtful, kind and deeply committed to the mental health of his patients, and has personally helped me through some very challenging moments in my life. These last few years have been especially tough, and I’m so grateful to have Alex in my corner to help me through the difficulties that have arisen. I cannot recommend him highly enough!
