Getting to know Alexandra Askenazi Marcus

You may feel disconnected from your body, your emotions, or your relationships, and struggling to stay present, identify what you need, or trust your reactions. This can show up as replaying conversations, second guessing yourself, avoiding conflict, or prioritizing others’ comfort over expressing your own thoughts and feelings. Even when you want closeness, vulnerability may feel difficult, leaving relationships feeling confusing or unsafe. I work with individuals, partners, and families to help them reconnect with their emotions, body cues, and inner knowing so they can rebuild self-trust and develop more secure relationships after trauma or loss. My approach is trauma-informed and integrative, incorporating EMDR to process painful experiences, IFS/IFIO to explore inner emotional parts, and relational/systemic work to shift patterns between people. My goal is to provide a supportive space where meaningful change and deeper connection can take root.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I believe therapy works best when you feel safe, understood, and genuinely connected with your therapist. My style is warm, collaborative, and authentic, and I strive to create a space where you can show up as you are without fear of judgment. I value curiosity over criticism and work alongside clients to better understand patterns, build self-trust, and create meaningful change. Whether you're navigating trauma, grief, relationship challenges, or life transitions, I will meet you where you are and tailor our work to your unique needs and goals.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first sessions focus on understanding what brings you to therapy and getting a clear picture of your experiences, relationships, strengths, and goals. I take a collaborative, trauma-informed approach and work at a pace that feels comfortable and supportive. Together, we'll explore how trauma, grief, loss, and relationship experiences may be affecting your emotions, self-trust, and daily life. Sessions may include identifying patterns, processing difficult experiences cognitively and somatically, strengthening coping skills, and reconnecting with your emotions, body cues, and sense of self. My goal is to provide a safe, nonjudgmental space where you feel understood, supported, and empowered to create meaningful change.

Alexandra does powerful work helping people who feel disconnected from their bodies, emotions, and relationships reconnect with their inner knowing. Her approach is trauma-informed and integrative, weaving together EMDR, IFS/IFIO, and relational work to help clients process loss, rebuild self-trust, and move toward more secure relationships. She works with individuals, couples, and families with real skill and care. If you're looking for a therapist who treats trauma and relational patterns with this much depth, Alexandra is it.
Alexandra specializes in trauma, couples and relationship work, and loss. What makes her stand out is the way those three things connect — because unprocessed trauma and grief don't stay contained. They show up in how we attach, how we fight, how we shut down, and how we grieve the versions of ourselves or our relationships we've had to let go of. Whether you're working through something that happened to you, trying to find your footing after a loss, or feeling the strain in your relationship and not quite knowing why - she brings the kind of steady, skilled presence that makes it feel safe to actually go there.
