Psychotherapist
1115 Broadway, 12 Fl, New York, NY
Hi, I’m Alexandria, a School Counselor and Mental Health Counselor based in New York. I work with teens, young adults, and adults navigating anxiety, overthinking, intrusive thoughts, relationship challenges, life transitions, and self-esteem struggles. I earned my Master’s degrees in Psychological Counseling and School Counseling from Columbia University and currently practice under my New York State Mental Health Counseling Limited Permit as I work toward full licensure. My approach to therapy is collaborative, supportive, and personalized. I draw from evidence-based approaches including CBT, DBT, and trauma-informed care, while tailoring sessions to each client’s unique needs and goals. Some clients come to therapy looking for practical coping strategies and emotional regulation tools, while others want to better understand long-standing patterns, relationships, or the way they relate to themselves. As both a clinician and school counselor, I bring experience supporting individuals through academic pressure, anxiety, relationship stress, burnout, identity development, and major life changes. I aim to create a space that feels grounded, warm, and nonjudgmental—where clients feel comfortable showing up exactly as they are. Many of my clients are thoughtful, driven, and self-aware, but still find themselves feeling emotionally overwhelmed or stuck in cycles of self-doubt and overthinking. My goal is to help clients feel more confident, emotionally balanced, and better equipped to navigate both everyday stressors and deeper challenges.

What should a new client know about working with you?

New clients should know that therapy with me is meant to feel collaborative, supportive, and genuine. You do not need to have everything figured out before starting therapy, and you don’t need to know exactly what to say. We can begin wherever you are. I work with many clients who feel mentally exhausted from constant overthinking, anxiety, intrusive thoughts, or relationship patterns that are difficult to break. Often, people come into therapy feeling pressure to “hold it together” on the outside while struggling internally. My style is warm, honest, and conversational while still being goal-oriented. I’ll help you better understand your thoughts, emotions, and patterns while also giving you practical tools you can use outside of sessions. I strive to create an environment where clients feel comfortable being themselves without fear of judgment. I also understand that starting therapy can feel intimidating, especially if you’re used to being the strong one for everyone else. My goal is to help you feel supported, understood, and empowered throughout the process.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In our first few sessions, we’ll focus on getting to know each other and building a strong therapeutic foundation. I’ll take time to understand what brings you to therapy, the challenges you’re currently facing, and what goals you hope to work toward. From there, we’ll create a treatment approach that feels individualized and realistic for your life. Depending on your needs, sessions may focus on managing anxiety and stress, building coping skills, improving emotional regulation, processing relationships and life experiences, or identifying patterns that may be keeping you stuck. I use an integrative approach that combines evidence-based techniques with open, supportive conversation. Some sessions may feel more skill-focused and structured, while others may involve deeper reflection and exploration. Throughout the process, I aim to help clients gain insight, feel more emotionally grounded, and develop tools they can carry into everyday life—not just during sessions.
