Getting to know Alicia Henry

With over a decade of experience, I specialize in helping motivated adults navigate challenges such as anxiety, trauma, grief, relationship concerns (including dating and familial), perfectionism, major life transitions, family dynamics, low self-esteem, and workplace burnout. I work with individuals from many walks of life—including professionals, students, and executives—who may appear successful on the outside but feel overwhelmed or stuck internally. I earned my Master’s Degree from NYU and have advanced post-graduate training in trauma-informed care, grief counseling, and anxiety management. My approach is interactive, compassionate, and strengths-based. In our work together, we’ll explore the deeper patterns shaping your experiences while also developing practical tools to help you feel more grounded, confident, and resilient. You can expect sessions to feel like meaningful conversations that foster insight, healing, and lasting growth. Please Note: I require a brief phone consultation and completion of intake paperwork prior to scheduling an initial appointment. Because of this, contacting me directly through my website before booking on Zocdoc is often the best way to begin. Additional appointment times may also be available outside of those listed here.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My style is warm, interactive and strengths based. I enjoy working with motivated clients who understand that therapy is a collaborative process. I offer both short term (up to 8 sessions) and longer term therapy options.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My process begins with a brief phone consultation so we can discuss what’s bringing you to therapy and determine whether we’re a good fit. If we decide to move forward, you’ll complete intake paperwork and insurance authorization before scheduling your first appointment. In our initial sessions, we’ll take time to understand your goals, background, and the patterns or challenges you’d like to address. From there, therapy becomes a collaborative process where we explore the deeper roots of your struggles while also developing practical tools to help you navigate day-to-day life. My approach is interactive and tailored to each individual, drawing from evidence-based techniques to help you build insight, strengthen coping skills, and create meaningful, lasting change.

I was hesitant to seek out a therapist but I’m SO grateful to have found Alicia. She has changed my life for the better with her compassionate nature and realistic, practical advice.
A professional, focused, clear thinker, this provider is 100% focused on my questions and issues. It's difficult to give specific examples and to maintain confidentiality, though I can easily say she can recall situations/people from multiple sessions prior. In addition, she has a diplomatic approach that is easy to translate into real life. Best investment in my health in a long time. .
Alicia has been vital in my growth over this past year. I've entered therapy 3-4 times throughout my life, but Alicia is the only provider that I've ever stuck with. She's thoughtful, intentional, great at listening and provides insight when it's most needed. She balances listening/asking questions perfectly and allows her patients the space and time they need to think through an idea. I've made significant progress with my mental health these last 11-12 months and have Alicia to thank for that. We've made connections on what/where some of my trauma is linked to, created personal goals on healing those past traumas, tracked those goals and chatted through numerous exercises/readings/etc that all help with my depression and anxiety. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone.
Alicia Henry is a consummate professional and insightful therapist. Her insights, dialogue, and suggestions made a signifiant difference in my movement toward greater mental health. The recommendations she offered were instrumental for me in dealing with trauma and life crises. I am older and have experience with a number of therapists over the years and I think I am very good spotting excellence in this profession. Alicia is incredibly astute and is the best therapist I have encountered. If you are looking for a great person/therapist who will guide and nurture your development, I think she will prove to be an excellent choice. Good luck
I have worked with Alicia for a few years now. She always provides thoughtful advice and assists me in figuring out how to best work out a problem on my own. I was very apprehensive about therapy but since working with Alicia my views have changed completely and I look forward to our sessions.
