Getting to know Alicia Pooley

My experience working with adolescents as a school counselor deepened my passion for understanding people, learning their stories, and finding meaningful ways to support them through life’s challenges. This experience inspired me to continue growing as a mental health counselor and to help individuals better understand themselves, their emotions, and their experiences. I strive to create a warm, welcoming, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel comfortable being their authentic selves. I believe therapy is a partnership, and I enjoy learning about each person’s unique perspective, building on their strengths, and finding approaches that best meet their needs. My goal is to help clients feel heard and supported as they navigate challenges, gain self-understanding, and work toward meaningful change.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach to therapy is grounded in authenticity, curiosity, and collaboration. I strive to meet each client where they are, creating a warm, nonjudgmental space where you can feel comfortable showing up as your true self. I believe we all have different parts of ourselves, emotions, and experiences that shape how we navigate the world. Rather than judging these parts, we can approach them with curiosity and compassion to better understand what they may be telling us. Therapy is a partnership, and I want our work together to feel genuine, flexible, and tailored to your needs. We’ll explore what feels important to you, build on your strengths, and find meaningful ways to help you move forward.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My approach to therapy is collaborative and tailored to each client's needs and goals. Sessions may involve talking through everyday stressors, navigating current challenges, or exploring deeper emotions and patterns that have been present for a long time. I believe understanding ourselves is an important part of growth, so we’ll make space to explore your experiences while also developing practical tools to help you manage challenges in your daily life. Together, we’ll work toward the goals that matter to you, build on your strengths, and help you feel more connected to yourself and confident in navigating life’s ups and downs. There is no one-size-fits-all approach, and our work will evolve as you do.
