Alison Tan, LCP

Psychologist
CA
My name is Alison Tan, and I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist (PhD) with a PhD and Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Loma Linda University. I specialize in anxiety and depression and work with clients to increase their self-efficacy by building their sense of control and self-understanding. My approach We will work together to understand your goals for therapy. My approach varies depending on each client’s needs. I most frequently use Cognitive Behavioral and Emotion Focused Therapy approaches that address the whole person. We will explore the connection between thoughts, behaviors, and emotions while being mindful of how culture, past experiences, environment, and spirituality may influence what is going on. My focus I typically work with adults addressing anxiety and depression that may have become more apparent due to stressors, relationship difficulties, transitions, life experiences, health changes, or a combination of these factors. I help clients navigate these transition periods and build skills to feel more confident about themselves and their ability to face future challenges. My communication style My communication style is calm, warm, and personable. I strive to create a safe space where clients feel comfortable expressing themselves without judgment and truly heard. My journey to therapy I was drawn to therapy by my curiosity about the human mind and how perception shapes our understanding. I have always wanted to help people and was inspired to pursue this path after watching Kelly McGonigal’s TED Talk, “How to Make Stress Your Friend.” I enjoy seeing people grow and thrive in their understanding of themselves and the world around them. My goals for you My approach to goal setting is collaborative, focused on working together to define what you want to accomplish in our time together.
