"I emphasize, 'We are in this together' to every client from the start. The uncertainty they have about therapy and what they need is eased once they understand they're not alone. This is our initial step.
Having raised children and teenagers, mostly as a solo parent, I understand the development phases they go through. I've helped parents comprehend their children's seemingly senseless and often hurtful conduct. I've served as a trusted space for teenagers to share their feelings on a variety of issues such as bullying, low self-esteem, and anxiety about their future. Assisting my children and young clients in navigating the unpredictability of the world is part of my experience. I'm also familiar with the mental health concerns of the elderly. Rather than a 'niche', I find satisfaction in engaging with various life stages and their associated challenges.
Trust is the bedrock for any therapy, which I ensure we establish at the start. There are boundaries to confidentiality explained initially, and I want my clients to feel secure in disclosing their experiences and feelings.
Good communication is vital for successful therapy. Being able to express emotions freely and without judgement is when healing can commence. I only expect two things from my clients: honesty and trust. In return, they will find genuineness, compassion, and empathetic support in me.
