Psychotherapist

Welcome. Starting therapy can feel overwhelming, especially during times when you may already feel disconnected or hopeless. It takes courage to take that first step. My aim is to make our time together feel safe and grounded so you can show up exactly as you are—whatever that looks like. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and focused on the whole person. I lead with curiosity and care because I believe you already have inherent strengths—even if they’re hard to see right now. Together, we’ll build tools for reflection, resilience, and transformation. I have experience working with individuals navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, relationship challenges, and more. I am a Licensed Master Social Worker in New York. Before becoming a therapist, I spent 15 years working as a wellness coach and plant-based chef. That background shapes how I show up in therapy. I see each client as a whole person—mind, body, history, and hopes—and I draw from a range of tools to support all aspects of well-being.

Getting to know Allison Manning

What should a new client know about working with you?

My style is warm, collaborative, and grounded in genuine curiosity. I strive to create a space where you can show up exactly as you are—warts and all—without pressure to be anything other than yourself. My work focuses on the whole person. While we may explore thoughts, emotions, and relationships, we may also consider mind-body connections and other aspects of well-being that support healing and resilience. I believe that my clients already have inherent strengths, even if they may be difficult to see in the moment. My role is to help you reconnect with those strengths while building practical tools that support reflection, resilience, and meaningful change.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our work together is flexible and responsive to what you need. Some sessions may be more practical and structured—for example, when we’re building skills to manage overwhelming thoughts or navigate specific challenges. Other sessions may move more slowly and be more exploratory, such as when we’re looking at long-standing patterns, getting curious about your values, or tending to your nervous system through gentle, body-based practices. At times we may also zoom out and look at broader factors that influence well-being, including sleep, food, and environment, because these can play an important role in overall mental health. Throughout the process, my goal is to create a safe and grounded space where we can work together toward healing and transformation.
