Hi there, I'm Al! My name is Al Whitehead, and I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist based in Saint Louis, Missouri, working with clients via telehealth. I work with adult clients to reduce or eliminate symptoms of anxiety, depression, and trauma. I use a variety of techniques tailored to each client's specific needs, identified through psychological testing and the clinical interview. My approach to therapy varies based on the unique needs and concerns of each client. Most frequently, I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Emotional Freedom Techniques, as both modalities help me and the client build a shared understanding of their reality and allow us to work together to chart a path forward. I treat adults dealing with social anxiety, generalized anxiety, depression, PTSD, nightmares, and life transitions. Many have found relief and freedom from years of suffering in a surprisingly short time by working with me and applying the techniques and tips I teach. My 25 years of experience have taught me how to help clients build skills that allow them to feel better about themselves and live a happy life. My communication style is calm, accommodating, and personable. I want my clients to feel comfortable talking with me about anything, and I pride myself on my ability to listen without judgment. The foundation of healing is built on creating a connection based on mutual respect, trust, and understanding. People have always found it easy to confide in me. After being helped immensely by therapy as I recovered from alcohol and drug addiction, I wanted to “pass it on” and help others as I had been helped. I earned my bachelor's degree from Missouri State University, completed my PsyD at the Forest Institute of Professional Psychology, and received three years of post-doctoral training. My therapy clients have taught me much about life, compassion, and healing. Being able to help others has been immensely rewarding.
