Getting to know Alyssa Gravel

Hi, I’m Alyssa (she/her), a Licensed Master Social Worker. I earned my MSW from UCLA, where I focused my clinical training on mental health and psychotherapy. My path to this work has taken me through schools, community-based programs, and inpatient and outpatient psychiatric settings. I have worked with children and families, adolescents and young adults, and adults navigating complex mental health concerns. I also completed extensive clinical training with veterans at the VA, providing individual therapy and supporting clients and their families through periods of significant change and distress.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Across these settings, I became especially interested in the ways our relationships shape how we understand ourselves and the world around us. Whether I’m working with a couple caught in a painful cycle, a young person figuring out who they are, or a family struggling to understand one another, I’m interested in helping individuals, couples, and families understand not only what is happening, but how to find healing, understanding, and stability.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My background in yoga and mindfulness also influences the way I think about therapy. I value slowing down, becoming curious about our internal experiences, and creating enough space to respond intentionally rather than simply reacting to what we feel.
