“I highly recommend working with Alyssa Tortorella! Alyssa is a wonderful therapist with a warm, grounded presence, and she brings deep thoughtfulness and care to her work with clients. As her colleague, I’ve had the pleasure of consulting with her on many cases, which has allowed me to see firsthand the skill, reflection, and intentionality she brings to her sessions. Alyssa consistently invests time and energy into learning and growing as a therapist. It’s easy to see how safe, supported, and understood clients feel working with her. I trust her deeply as a clinician, both in the care she provides and in her judgment about when to refer clients elsewhere to ensure they receive the support that best fits their needs.”

Getting to know Alyssa Tortorella

Alyssa Tortorella, LMHC, understands that initiating therapy can be intimidating and takes care to create a therapeutic setting that emanates non-judgment and compassion. Sessions with Alyssa are interactive, with client and therapist working as a team to clarify treatment goals, establish a course of action, and move toward self-actualization. She welcomes open, direct, and ongoing feedback and is always willing to adjust sessions to meet the client's changing circumstances and priorities. Specializing in supporting Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents, Alyssa helps clients navigate the lasting impact of growing up in emotionally neglectful or unpredictable environments. Through compassionate and evidence-based approaches, she guides individuals in healing childhood wounds, setting healthy boundaries, improving self-worth, and building authentic relationships. Because early relational experiences often shape how we relate to our bodies, Alyssa also integrates her work as a Certified Body Trust® Provider into this process. She offers a weight-inclusive, trauma-informed approach to help clients heal from diet culture and build a healthy relationship with food and their bodies. Alyssa is a dedicated child, teen, and adult psychotherapist who draws from cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), as well as her extensive experience working in hospitals, outpatient treatment centers, and schools. She employs a holistic approach, seamlessly incorporating the mind-body connection. Alyssa is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in New York and holds a Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from New York University.

Alyssa is an amazing therapist. She is very knowledgeable and always brings in outside sources while implementing CBT techniques!
Alyssa is amazing! I was afraid to actually look for a therapist since my first and only experience had been so bad. It took me over a year to find a new therapist because I had a big fear that it would be the same experience. I did my research and found Alyssa, she had great reviews and after meeting with her I understood why. She is very sweet, she made me feel comfortable, she is very easy to talk to which made me feel comfortable to open up to and she listens. She has helped me a lot and I appreciate her so much! So if you’re looking for a good therapist Alyssa is a great option!
This was my first time at the facility, and I was extremely impressed with just how comfortable and welcoming everything was.

Excellent experience with Ms Alyssa, my son who is 11 years old made a huge progress during the time that he was seen by Ms. Alyssa. It was was hard for him emotionally, specially during the pandemic but he got better, thanks to her. He built self confidence, self control and he is now socializing with other kids . I would definitely recommend Ms. Alyssa Tortorella, she will definitely care about you and your concerns.
My office visits (pre-Covid!) are very pleasant. The main office is always quiet and there is never a wait. Alyssa’s office feels like a safe place and that is appreciated. It is intimate and cozy. Working with Alyssa has become a highlight of my week! It is so easy to talk to her and it truly feels like a judgement free zone. We even continued meeting virtually and it feels the same. I would highly recommend Alyssa and her practice.
I was thought Alyssa's age might be a problem but it wasn't at all! She was very easy to connect with. She is understanding and knowledgeable and helped me a lot with my anxiety and depression.
Alyssa is easy to talk to and has given me very helpful feedback and ways to deal with anxiety and stress. I'd recommend her to anyone!
Alyssa helped put a smile back on my child's face. She was the first person in a while who I felt actually listened to my child rather than trying to pathologize him. She gave him and I strategies we could use to help him battle a lot of insecurities and depression.
