Getting to know Amanda Kleinberg

My name is Amanda Kleinberg, LMSW. I am a graduate of Fordham University with a master's degree in social work. I understand every individual is unique and believe in a holistic approach, tailoring each session to your specific needs and personalized goals. I use a person-centered and strengths-based approach that considers all aspects of your life. When working together, I offer a warm, non-judgmental space, giving you the opportunity to learn from yourself and gain the skills and tools to live your best life. One of my core specialties is career-related stress. Having worked in the corporate world of Public Relations for several years prior to my career as a therapist, I can appreciate the unique stressors and circumstances associated with high-pressure work environments and maintaining a work-life balance. Another specialty of focus is working with individuals who have parents, grandparents, or family members suffering from chronic illnesses, aging, and bereavement. I am also skilled in working with clients during life transitions, trauma, anxiety, depression, dating, and relationship challenges.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My goal is to meet you where you are and provide a safe and supportive space to work through any challenges. Collaboratively, we will work together to meet your goals. I am a strong proponent that the therapeutic relationship works most effectively with a good fit. As we explore your unique emotions and behaviors, that arise from them we build a relationship based on trust, support, non-judgement and a partnership toward your wellness.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Typically in the first session I like to get to know my clients and what they are experiencing that brought them to therapy. In tandem with addressing an area where a client needs support, I also ask questions to explore their history and where these experiences might be stemming from. I have been told I have a unique way of helping clients put words to their feelings, especially clients that are seeking therapy for the first time. We look deeply into understanding specific feelings and thought process and how they are effecting our behaviors. From there, we begin to make changes with unique tools that are built together. A strong, trusting relationship is fostered, sometimes not even feeling like therapy at all! A warm, safe, collaborative session definitely makes the therapeutic process easier and more enjoyable!
