Psychotherapist
CO
Hello, I'm Amanda, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with a Master of Social Work (MSW). I specialize in helping individuals who have experienced trauma, including victims of abuse, to overcome unwanted memories, flashbacks, and nightmares. I understand that traumatic events can lead to overwhelming anxiety, negative changes in thinking or mood, and physical and emotional symptoms such as being easily startled, always on guard, or irritable/aggressive. My goal is to help you regain a sense of control over your life by learning the skills needed to address your symptoms and cope with them in the future. Together, we will work on thinking more positive thoughts about yourself and others. It's not uncommon for those who have endured abuse to also address other conditions such as anxiety, depression, or substance misuse in therapy. I know that reaching out for help can be difficult, and the thought of sharing your story can feel intimidating. Please know that our work together is confidential and non-judgmental. You will be provided with a safe space to heal in a manner that respects your journey. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Mindfulness techniques, and Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT). These modalities are tailored to suit your needs and help you through the healing process. EMDR involves bilateral stimulation while holding a disturbing memory, TF-CBT addresses emotional and behavioral difficulties due to traumatic events, Mindfulness techniques help calm anxiety and keep us grounded, and EFT offers emotional healing through tapping on acupressure meridians. You can take your life back! Reaching out for help is a brave step, and I'm here to support you every step of the way.
