Hello, I'm Amber. Understanding the mind and its profound complexity is at the heart of my work. I believe in identifying, addressing, and alleviating your concerns with a great deal of commitment, and I look forward to exploring this journey with you. Being in this profession brings me immense satisfaction, both professionally and personally, as I assist you on your intimate journey toward better mental health. I began my educational journey with a Bachelor's in Social Work from the University of West Florida in 2010. My early career in child-welfare organizations provided me with a solid framework for working with underprivileged minors and families. In 2013, I earned my Master's in Social Work from The University of New England, focusing on individuals, families, and groups through a clinical academic lens. After my Bachelor's, I worked with Families' First Network in Florida's child welfare system, reinforcing positive parenting resources and overseeing children in the care of Child Protective Services. During my Master's program, I completed a field practicum with Seasons' Hospice and Palliative Care in California, which led to a position as a bereavement social worker. There, I provided end-of-life support and collaborated with various disciplines to ensure continuity of care. In 2016, I moved to Virginia and became a Supervisee in Social Work at Virginia Beach Psychiatric Center. I assessed clients upon admission, conducted bio-psychosocial assessments, and facilitated group therapy sessions using Solution-Focused Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, and Narrative Therapy. I also performed assessments for substance abuse, psychosis, and suicidal or homicidal ideation. After passing the Board of Social Work examination, I joined the Department of Defense as a Military Family Life Counselor, acting as a liaison among schools, students, and their families. In 2022, I shifted my focus to an outpatient organization, addressing the concerns of individuals.
