Psychotherapist
ME
Hi there - congratulations on reaching out for help. My name is Amos. I received my clinical education from Boston University School of Social work. I have been working within the mental health field for 7 years, with 3 years as a clinician. I specialize in trauma, adhd, family issues, transition into adulthood, autism, identity issues. This business can be jargon filled, but simply put I want to eliminate obstacles to realize one's full potential. I am a voracious learner, and have a grasp on many different types of therapy. Prior to clinical work, I was in the education field and I believe I do a good job of pairing someone learning profile with therapy that supports this. I think my clients can expect our work to exist both in the 'here and now' and also with an eye towards overarching patterns (behavioral, cognitive, etc.); to be part of the present and be part of the past. I think they can expect to be heard and understood, but also challenged. I think they can expect a clinician who welcomes and elicits and feedback about both sessions and approach. At the end of treatment, my goal is to help clients step foot back into the world with the confidence to take healthy risks, undergirded by the ability and wisdom to nurture themselves again.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach is assessment driven. With information in hand, I collaborate with clients to develop a treatment in which they feel a sense of ownership over their own healing. I use a number of different 'types' of therapy, but I prefer the ones that help folks develop a better relationship with themselves: Internal Family Systems, CBT, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Existential Psychotherapy - to name a few. I will work with you to figure out exactly what that right fit is for you - and get to work.
