Psychotherapist
138 W 25th St, Ste 801-A3, New York, NY
Hola! My name is Amy and I’m so glad you’re considering taking the next step in your healing journey. I know it can feel scary to sit across from a stranger and open up about things we often keep to ourselves. That’s why I want to share a bit about who I am - not just as a therapist, but as a person. One of the most important parts of my identity is my heritage and the roots that have shaped me. I’m a proud Honduran-American, a daughter of immigrants, and a first-generation student. While I now feel empowered by my identity, that hasn’t always been the case. Growing up, I often felt the pressure to code-switch, to explain myself, or to shrink parts of who I was in order to fit in. These experiences deepened my commitment to making sure others feel seen, heard, and valued exactly as they are. As your therapist, my goal is simple: to help you heal by combining practical tools with care that honors who you are.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I approach therapy with an understanding of what it’s like to sit on both sides of the room. At the heart of my work is the belief that healing is possible, and that therapy can be a space where you move from simply surviving to truly thriving. Working with me is a collaborative process—we’ll explore what’s bringing you in, clarify your goals, and move at a pace that feels right for you. I bring warmth, curiosity, and compassion to our work together, because I understand from personal experience that saying yes to therapy can be one of the hardest first steps. That’s why I aim to guide you with both clinical expertise and the insight that comes from having been a client myself. It’s an honor to sit with people as they explore the deeper parts of themselves, and my promise is to welcome your full, authentic self in the therapy space.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My process is collaborative, supportive, and tailored to each client’s needs. We typically begin with an initial session focused on getting to know you—what’s bringing you in, what you’ve been experiencing, and what you hope to get out of therapy. I’ll ask questions to better understand patterns, stressors, and any history that feels important to share, while making sure the pace feels comfortable for you. From there, we work together to clarify goals and identify areas of focus. Sessions often involve a mix of reflection, skill-building, and practical strategies you can use outside of therapy. I place a strong emphasis on understanding patterns, strengthening coping tools, and increasing self-awareness in a way that feels relevant to your day-to-day life. Throughout our work, I aim to create a space that feels safe, collaborative, and non-judgmental. We’ll regularly check in about what’s working, adjust our approach as needed, and move at a pace that feels supportive rather than overwhelming. My goal is to help you feel more grounded, empowered, and connected to yourself over time.
