Analecia Nickel, LMFT

Analecia Nickel, LMFT

Psychotherapist
AZ
I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and board-approved supervisor with experience working with children, teens, adults, couples, and families. My clinical work focuses heavily on anxiety, OCD, trauma, attachment and relationship concerns, emotional regulation, self-esteem, grief, and executive functioning challenges. My approach to care is warm, direct, collaborative, and individualized. I believe therapy works best when clients feel genuinely understood, while also being supported in recognizing patterns, building insight, and making meaningful changes outside of session. Depending on each client’s needs, I incorporate evidence-based approaches such as CBT, ERP, attachment-based therapy, trauma-informed care, mindfulness, nervous system regulation, and practical skill-building. I value authenticity, humor, and creating a space where clients do not have to filter themselves or have everything figured out before coming to therapy. My goal is to help clients better understand themselves, feel more grounded and confident, and develop tools that support lasting change rather than simply managing symptoms from week to week. I also bring experience in clinical leadership, supervision, non-profit organization and private practice, which has strengthened my ability to approach care thoughtfully, ethically, and from a whole-person perspective.

What should a new client know about working with you?

New clients should know that I’m warm, direct, collaborative, and very human in session. I’m not the kind of therapist who just nods and says, “How does that make you feel?” for an hour. I’ll help you slow things down, understand your patterns, and connect what you’re feeling to what may be happening underneath. I’ll also challenge you when it’s helpful and give you practical tools you can actually use outside of session. I value honesty, humor, and authenticity, and I want therapy to feel like a space where you can fully be yourself without needing to perform or have everything figured out. We’ll move at a pace that feels supportive while still working toward meaningful change. My goal is for you to leave sessions feeling more understood, more grounded, and more confident in how you handle what life brings up.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My process starts with getting to know you, what’s bringing you to therapy, and what you want to feel different in your life. From there, we’ll identify patterns, triggers, and goals together and create a treatment approach that fits your needs. I balance insight with practical tools, so sessions may include exploring underlying emotions and relationships while also building coping skills you can use outside of therapy. I regularly check in on what’s working, what isn’t, and whether we need to adjust our approach. My goal is for therapy to feel collaborative, supportive, and useful, not like something being done to you.
