You may be exhausted from fighting battles no one else can see. The memories you don't want keep showing up. Nightmares interrupt your sleep. A sound, smell, place, or ordinary interaction can send your body into alarm. You may be constantly on guard, avoiding reminders, pushing people away, or feeling disconnected from your life. Facing what happened may feel unbearable, so avoiding the thoughts, feelings, and reminders can seem like the only way to cope. You may carry beliefs about what happened and what it means about you: I should have known. I should have stopped it. I can't trust anyone. I'm not safe. Something about me is broken. Avoidance can bring relief in the moment, but it doesn't last. The distress returns, and you're left feeling stuck in a loop you can't escape. Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) is a structured, evidence-based treatment for PTSD. Together, we'll examine how what happened shaped your beliefs and how those beliefs affect you now. We'll identify the stuck points keeping you caught in the loop, question the assumptions beneath them, and work toward a more accurate understanding of what happened. The goal isn't to dismiss your experience or talk you out of your feelings. It's to process what you've been avoiding and reconsider beliefs that keep you stuck. The CPT protocol takes place over 12 weekly sessions, and writing assignments and daily practice between sessions are essential—not optional extras. What we discuss in session matters, but you need to apply what you're learning in everyday life. You have to do the work. That may sound like a lot, because it is. I'll guide you through the process, ask questions, and challenge you to consider other perspectives. But I can't do that part for you. If you're ready to make that commitment, we can get into it. You can't change what happened, but you can find your way back to yourself—and discover what moving forward can look like. You don't have to keep living this way. Let's get to work.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I want to understand you beyond the symptoms or experiences that brought you here. I'm interested in how you make sense of your life, the patterns you've developed, what matters to you, and even the parts of yourself you don't particularly like. Sometimes the things we most want to change began as ways of coping. Understanding why something developed doesn't mean we have to stay there. I'm a direct, engaged therapist. I'll ask questions, tell you what I notice, and sometimes point out something you may not have considered—or may not particularly want to hear. I don't come into the room believing I already have you figured out, though. I bring my training and experience, but you're the person who knows your life from the inside. I work with people seeking different kinds of support. Some come to address the lasting effects of trauma through the 12-session CPT protocol for PTSD. Others engage in ongoing therapy to navigate anxiety, panic, and perfectionism. I take therapy seriously, but I don't think we have to be serious all the time. There's room for honesty, curiosity, humor, and the messy parts of being human. We're pretty creative when it comes to avoiding discomfort. Part of our work may be noticing where you've been going around something and figuring out what it would look like to go through it instead.

Payment information is held securely on file, and payment is charged at the time of service. I accept American Express, Discover, Mastercard, Visa, and HSA/FSA cards.
