Getting to know Dr. Anna Sofie Shouse

I believe therapy should feel supportive, collaborative, and empowering. Whether you are navigating a long-standing challenge or something new and unexpected, my goal is to create a space where you feel heard, understood, and respected. I bring over 15 years of experience into my work and use evidence-based approaches tailored to each individual’s unique needs.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My style is warm, thoughtful, and affirming. I work with teens (15+) and adults from all backgrounds, and I strive to provide a safe, inclusive space, including for LGBTQIA+ individuals and neurodivergent clients. Therapy with me is not about judgment or quick fixes, but about building insight, resilience, and practical tools that support meaningful and lasting change. I aim to meet clients where they are and move at a pace that feels comfortable. I regularly check in to ensure therapy feels helpful and aligned with what matters most to you, and I adjust our work as your needs evolve.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In the first session, we will focus on getting to know one another and understanding what brings you to therapy. I will ask questions about your current concerns, background, and goals, while also allowing space for you to share what feels most important. Together, we will begin to identify areas of focus and develop a treatment plan that feels realistic and supportive. Ongoing sessions typically involve talk therapy combined with evidence-based strategies tailored to your needs. We may work on coping skills, emotional regulation, relationship patterns, stress management, or navigating life transitions. My goal is for each session to feel purposeful, supportive, and empowering, helping you build the tools and insight needed to create meaningful change in your life.
