Psychotherapist
MI
Hello! In my practice, I view my clients as courageous people who have gone to great lengths to help themselves but have realized they need professional guidance. As I work with each person, I treat them as a unique individual worthy of respect, understanding, and empathy, listening wholeheartedly and striving to understand their experiences. My specialty lies in supporting Christian women navigating trauma, depression, and grief, helping to fortify self-care practices, master relaxation techniques, and develop focus-enhancement skills. The therapeutic approaches I champion are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). CPT helps those dealing with trauma to reframe their perspectives, without necessarily sharing explicit trauma details, while CBT helps those with depression and anxiety understand the nexus of their thoughts, feelings, and actions to enact overall life improvements. For my Christian clients, incorporating prayer and Bible readings into our sessions is possible, as well as discussing deepening your divine relationship. I chose to be a therapist to aid those in pain and to foster a belief in their capacity for recovery and a better life. I want to affirm their value and reinforce that therapy, like medical treatment, should be stigma-free and readily available when required. On a more personal note, I'm a voracious reader and an animal lover with two adorable fur babies. I reside in southern Michigan, with a family cottage up north where I spend some warm weather months. In my leisure time, you'll find me engrossed in a novel, playing piano or organ, or traveling. I'm grateful for my robust church community. As a clinical social worker, I'm licensed in Michigan and Florida, and have been since earning my Social Work Master’s and Substance Abuse Graduate Certificate from Western Michigan University in 2007. I am fully accredited for substance abuse treatment in both states.
