Anthony Corvus, LMHC

Psychotherapist
NY
Between the pressures of work, relationships, family responsibilities, financial stress, societal expectations, and the constant demand to keep moving forward, it's easy to lose connection with yourself. You may find yourself struggling with anxiety, burnout, self-doubt, people pleasing, depression, identity oppression, relationship difficulties, trauma, or simply feeling stuck in patterns that no longer serve you. It can be overwhelming. In my role, I aim to co-create a safe space where you can freely explore, reevaluate, and participate in challenging but transformative experiences. I offer a no-nonsense yet compassionate, empathetic, and collaborative approach. My focus is on a non-pathologizing and anti-ableist frame, and I'm dedicated to decolonizing therapy and advocating for inclusion and community.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Working with me is different from what many people imagine therapy to be. I believe you are the expert on your own life. My role isn't to tell you what to do or to "fix" you it's to help you better understand yourself, identify what's getting in your way, and support you as you create meaningful change. Together, we'll explore your experiences with honesty, curiosity, and compassion. Clients often describe me as direct, genuine, and easy to talk to. I bring warmth, humor, and authenticity into our sessions while also challenging you to look at patterns, beliefs, and behaviors that may no longer be serving you. I won't judge you, shame you, or expect perfection. Instead, I'll meet you where you are and help you build practical tools to navigate life's challenges. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, stress, burnout, relationship issues, self-esteem, trauma, identity exploration, life transitions, or feeling disconnected from yourself, our work will focus on helping you feel more empowered, confident, and aligned with who you truly are. I also recognize that our experiences don't happen in a vacuum. Family dynamics, culture, relationships, societal pressures, and past experiences all play a role in shaping who we are. Together, we'll make space to understand those influences while helping you reconnect with your voice, your strengths, and your values. Most importantly, therapy is a partnership. You don't need to have all the answers before you begin. You just need to show up as yourself. From there, we'll work together to create a space where growth, healing, and self-discovery can happen.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I believe therapy should feel like a partnership rather than a one-sided conversation. I will actively listen, offer feedback, challenge unhelpful patterns when appropriate, and support you in building greater self-awareness, confidence, and resilience. Throughout the process, we will regularly revisit your goals and adjust our approach as your needs evolve. My goal is to help you develop a deeper understanding of yourself, strengthen your connection to your values and authentic identity, improve your relationships, and build the skills needed to navigate life's challenges with greater confidence and self-compassion. This is about helping you reconnect with the person you already are and creating a life that feels more aligned with your needs, values, and aspirations.
