Psychotherapist
353 Lexington Ave, Ste 314, New York City, NY
My ideal client is someone who feels stuck—emotionally, relationally, or in how they see themselves—and wants to understand why familiar patterns keep repeating. They may struggle with anxiety, mood, shame, intimacy, identity questions, or the effects of earlier relationships and experiences. Often thoughtful and self-reflective, they want more than symptom relief: they want clarity, emotional freedom, and more satisfying connections with others and themselves. I offer depth-oriented psychotherapy grounded in contemporary psychodynamic theory. I help patients understand how past experiences shape present emotions and relationships, and work collaboratively to loosen painful patterns, strengthen self-esteem, and create more authentic ways of relating—to oneself and to others. Starting therapy can feel daunting, especially if you’re unsure where to begin or have tried before without finding the right fit. I strive to create a space that feels thoughtful, respectful, and emotionally safe. If you’re curious about understanding yourself more deeply and moving forward with intention, I’d welcome the chance to talk.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I offer therapy sessions both in person and online via secure video. In-person sessions take place in a comfortable, private office setting. Your first scheduled visit is considered a “Consultation,” and generally lasts 60 minutes. The consultation phase can extend up to 2 or 3 sessions (in rare occasions more), and may include requesting access to your medical records and/or permission to speak to previous providers and/or members of your family or close friends. Once I have sufficient information, I will provide diagnostic feedback and specific treatment recommendations. We will discuss your concerns and select the best resources to help with your difficulties. If the level of service that I offer seems sufficient to help you resolve your concerns, and if you decide to continue therapy, we will agree on a basic framework for the treatment and schedule a standing weekly appointment. If, during the consultation, you or I determine that you would be better served by another agency or provider, I will make a referral to an appropriate resource.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I primarily use psychodynamic psychotherapy, tailored to each person's needs. Sessions are collaborative and reflective, offering space to explore thoughts, emotions, and relational patterns in a way that feels safe, thoughtful, and grounded. Psychodynamic therapy invites us to slow down and listen closely to the patterns that shape how you relate to yourself and others. Often, the origins of current struggles live just beneath the surface—in early experiences, unconscious beliefs, and protective adaptations that once made sense but now feel limiting. Together, we’ll make space for these inner narratives to come into focus, not to pathologize, but to better understand the wisdom behind your symptoms and emotional life. Our work is guided by curiosity, honesty, and a shared commitment to making meaning of what feels stuck or confusing. We’ll pay attention to how your past lives in the present, how relational wounds show up in everyday life, and how the therapy relationship itself can offer a new experience of connection. Within this process, there’s room for complexity, contradiction, vulnerability, and growth.
