Psychotherapist
6334 Peters Creek Rd, Roanoke, VA
Hey, my name is Ayla and I am a Resident in Counseling. I feel it is important to be transparent, so here is a little about me. I earned my bachelor's degree in Health Psychology in 2013 from Radford University. After graduating, I worked as a Qualified Mental Health Professional-Adult (QMHP-A) for several years, eventually moving into substance abuse counseling. Growing to love the field of mental health and helping individuals achieve their goals, I decided to expand my education and apply to graduate school. I recently graduated with my Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Southern New Hampshire University. It is important to me to build a trusting rapport with each of my clients. I want my clients to feel comfortable confiding in me. I use a mixture of person-centered therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy during my sessions. In my free time, I enjoy tending to my 50+ houseplants, spending time with my cat and dog, as well as being around friends and family.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I use a mixture of person-centered therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). I provide a very laid back and relaxing experience to that each client knows that they are cared for and truly heard.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Each client's initial appointment will be an intake appointment. During this appointment, I will ask questions about your mental health, medical, family, and social history. I will also ask questions to gain a better understanding of what is currently going on, and prompted you to seek therapy. After our initial appointment, we will set up ongoing sessions based on your needs and availability.
