“I’ve had a really positive experience with Azia. She is genuinely one of the most attentive and thoughtful therapists I’ve met. From the moment a session starts, she makes it clear that she’s fully present. She listens closely, remembers details, and responds in a way that shows she truly understands. She creates a space that feels safe, comfortable, and judgment-free, which makes it much easier to open up. I never feel rushed or dismissed, and she has a way of asking the right questions that help me reflect and grow. Her approach is both compassionate and grounded, and I always leave sessions feeling heard and supported. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a therapist who is not only a great listener but also genuinely cares about her clients!”

Getting to know Azia Carter

Hey there, thanks for stopping by! I'm Azia, a compassionate and authentic therapist committed to supporting individuals and couples on their unique journeys toward evolvement and growth. I hold an MsEd in Marriage and Family Therapy, which has equipped me with the skills to address complex relational dynamics and individual challenges effectively. I also hold a Certificate in Clinical Trauma and Grief, which helps me to collaborate with you in healing from the wounds you may have endured whether individually or in your relationship(s) as well as recover from any loss you've experienced.

What should a new client know about working with you?

If you're struggling to navigate trauma, grief, mood disorders, life transitions, or relationship challenges, I'm here to walk alongside you. I create a nurturing environment where clients feel safe, valued, and supported. With an integrative, person-centered approach, I don't believe therapy is a one size fits all tool. Therefore, my clients feel empowered to be the authors of their own stories through our work together.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

As an Afro-Caribbean woman, I recognize the significance of cultural competence in therapy and how essential it is to find a therapist who understands and values the intricacies of diverse backgrounds. In my practice, I actively validate and integrate the unique experiences of people of color, fostering an inclusive and affirming therapeutic space. If any of this resonates with you, please feel free to book a free 15-minute consultation call where we discuss your specific needs and if we might be a good fit for each other. Your journey begins with a conversation, and I can't wait to start that dialogue with you!

It has taken me a while to find a therapist I feel I can truly be myself around and who understands how difficult the process can be. Azia has a laid back, but professional vibe that creates a nonjudgemental space for me to address the anxieties I have. She has helped me problem solve and offered constructive advice for me to live a more stress free life.
I started working with Azia earlier this year, and she has been incredible. She creates a safe, nonjudgmental space that makes it easy to open up and she truly listens with intention. Even in a short time, her support has already made a meaningful difference.
Azia is caring, committed and consistent. She’s helped my family with professionalism, expertise, and empathy, really going above and beyond to make sure progress is possible. I appreciate her responsiveness and insight, and she approaches tough work with a calm and steady demeanor. Sometimes it’s difficult to find the right fit when seeking therapy—Azia has taken the anxiety out of finding and being able to rely on quality care.
Azia is a very attentive, empathetic and supportive practitioner and really takes the time to listen and make you feel heard. She knows when to push and ask introspective questions, and I always leave sessions feeling calmer and understood. I truly value the supportive environment she provides.
I really appreciate my sessions with Azia. She prioritizes listening and meeting me where I’m at which allows me to explore things on my own terms. It’s easy to talk about things because she seems to understand where I’m coming from so I feel like her guidance comes from a place of understanding.
I’m genuinely so glad I found Azia. From our first session, it just felt easy to talk to her. She listens with so much presence and there’s never any sense of judgment, just calm reassurance. The small ‘homework’ reflections she gave me were really helpful and gave me space to process and make connections to the answers and clarity I was seeking. Every session felt grounding and I always walked away feeling a little lighter and like I had made progress.
Azia is so amazing and really creates a welcoming space that makes you feel comfortable opening up. I've struggled previously to find a therapist who feels like a good fit, but it has been so easy to talk to her from our first session. She offers great advice and usually leads the conversation by asking questions, which I really like. I would highly recommend seeing her!
I met Ms Carter at the lowest point in my life, she helped me navigate my way to recovery and becoming a better version of myself,Something i didn't think was possible. ?? ????????
I’m so happy that I have Azia as my therapist! She is a great listener, excellent at guiding me to new levels of self-awareness and she has a kind and real personality. I felt comfortable being vulnerable during our session and also motivated to become a better and more healed person. I recommend Azia if you’re looking to heal from the past, overcome negative thoughts, and improve your mindset.
It's great working with Azia. Conversations are easy and there are no feelings of judgement. Azia analyzes feedback based on the client's experience. Homework/Tools to make effective change are provided when necessary.
Having Azia as a therapist has completely changed my life. She created a safe space where I felt comfortable opening up to her. Azia allowed me to feel through my emotions without judgment and guided me through them to find the root cause while also assisting with healthy healing resolutions. I have had other therapists in the past, but none like her. Azia being a black woman is also a plus to me because she can understand certain struggles that are unique to being a black woman. Azia thank you for your empathy, professionalism, and knowledge. You have had such a positive impact on my life.
My therapist Azia will by far forever be my favorite therapist. She is able to help me self reflect and keep strong on my boundaries. Throughout my sessions I have noticed that I have been growing to be the best version of myself. I have looked forward to each session as she provides me a safe place to speak about everything going on. I do not always have to speak about my emotions as my therapist is always ready to listen. I would love to share my therapist with everyone as long as I keep my weekly sessions.
I couldn’t be more grateful for Azia’s support. She is incredibly attentive and takes the time to truly listen and understand my concerns. What sets her apart is how resourceful she is—always offering practical tools and strategies that have made a real difference in my life. She’s also proactive, constantly looking for ways to improve our sessions, whether it’s by introducing new techniques or adapting her approach to meet my evolving needs. I always feel heard and empowered after our conversations. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a therapist who genuinely cares about their progress and well-being.

My sessions with Azia have become a key part of my mental health practices. Speaking with her has allowed me to unpack years of experience and find a way to move forward. I feel lighter after our conversations. She listens with an open mind, but is also unafraid to challenge you to look deeper or from a different perspective. I was also very intentional about finding a woman of color therapist and I believe Azia's personal experiences help her understand my own. I would highly recommend her and her services!

I've worked with Azia for several years now, and she's helped me and my mental health more than I can express. Her calm and engaging demeanor immediately made me feel comfortable, which, after many negative or unhelpful experiences with therapists, was no easy feat. She approaches each conversation with openness and empathy, often asking if I feel like a particular approach might be helpful and connecting them to prior methods that worked.
