Barbara has over 26 years of experience providing services to our veteran population, children, adolescents, and adults with a variety of developmental, social, and emotional challenges. Barbara provides clinical services primarily in urban settings and understands the unique environmental and social challenges and stressors that individuals in those communities encounter daily. As a Certified Trauma Specialist Barbara provides psycheducation into how trauma can adversely impact the brain and how the brain and the autonomic nervous system impacts our daily interactions with others. Barbara brings an eclectic holistic approach to the therapeutic process as she focuses on the mind, body and spirit of the individual as they move through the healing process. Barbara incorporates the importance of nutrition and mindfulness practices into the healing process. Using evidenced based approaches, Barbara helps the client move from feeling "stuck" into the journey of healing, for an overall positive therapeutic experience in a safe space. Barbara uses various approaches during the therapeutic process with a focus on trauma-informed care to include: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, Family Systems Polyvagal Therapy, Play Therapy, Strengths Based Approach and Mindfulness.
