Getting to know Bart Ackermans

I know that going into therapy is hard, but it is important and fulfilling work. I see clients that are going through life changes like divorce, loss of a loved one, or those who have a sense of feeling stuck in their work or life in general. I have much experience and enjoy working with the LGBTQ community, and sense the rapport is mutual.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I offer psychoanalysis: a relational, depth-oriented therapy focused on understanding patterns and creating meaningful and lasting change. Next to here and now issues we explore how your history, relationships, and emotional experiences continue to shape your present. Psychoanalytic work also analyzes dreams.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I'm from the Netherlands (Holland) and realize that this cultural difference is helpful. At times I can be direct, but I'm seen as empathic and understanding. I offer a free consultation session to see if we're a good fit.
