Getting to know Belva Fay

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Belva Fay LCSW works with adults from all walks of life. She employs a client centered approach, using evidence based therapies to assist individuals in finding meaning and value in their lives. She shares her knowledge of different skills, techniques and practices to help clients feel more in charge of their own well being, even if external circumstances cannot be changed. Examples of this would include personal health issues, loss of loved ones, aging as well as life style and environmental changes. She believes that the heart of therapy is the client:clinician relationship which is non-judgmental and supportive. In therapy you will have the opportunity to share some of your background and experiences, your perception of the issues you are dealing with and to develop goals for your therapy. Belva will use her extensive knowledge of different evidence based therapies to offer ways your goals might be achieved, to perhaps develop new stress management and coping skills and to have more awareness of your own strengths and abilities.

What should a new client know about working with you?

A new client should know that working with me means entering a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you are treated with respect, compassion, and genuine care. I work with adults from all walks of life and believe deeply that you are the expert on your own experience. My role is to walk alongside you, offering guidance, perspective, and practical tools to help you feel more empowered in your life, even when circumstances are difficult or cannot be changed. I understand that challenges such as health concerns, grief, aging, and major life or environmental changes can feel overwhelming. Therapy with me focuses on helping you find meaning, value, and a sense of control in your well-being, while also recognizing and building upon your existing strengths. The foundation of our work is a trusting, collaborative relationship where you feel heard and supported.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My process begins with getting to know you; your background, your experiences, and how you understand the challenges you’re facing. Together, we identify what feels most important to address and develop clear, meaningful goals for therapy. This collaborative approach ensures that therapy remains focused on what matters most to you. As therapy progresses, I draw from a range of evidence-based therapies to support your goals. I share practical skills, techniques, and strategies to help with stress management, coping, and emotional regulation, while also increasing awareness of your personal strengths and abilities. Throughout the process, I remain flexible and responsive, adapting our work as your needs evolve. The goal is to help you feel more confident, capable, and supported as you navigate life’s challenges.
