Mrs. Nadel holds a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from the City University of New York, College of Staten Island and is Board Certified in Bariatric Counseling through the American Association of Bariatric Counselors. She utilizes evidence-based tools, including the MBMD (Millon Behavioral Medicine Diagnostic), to ensure all evaluations meet medical and surgical program requirements with precision and efficiency. I am currently accepting new clients seeking pre-surgical psychological evaluations, bariatric psychological evaluations, and comprehensive autism assessments and ADHD evaluations. Evaluations are available via telehealth (when clinically appropriate) or in person. My practice provides a highly specialized, concierge-style evaluation experience, allowing for a structured, thorough, and supportive process from start to finish. Pre-surgical services include bariatric surgery evaluations, spinal cord stimulator (SCS) evaluations, pain management assessments, and cosmetic procedure clearances. For surgical candidates, evaluations are designed to assess emotional readiness, coping strategies, support systems, and preparedness for long-term lifestyle changes. I utilize evidence-based tools, including the MBMD (Millon Behavioral Medicine Diagnostic), to ensure alignment with medical and surgical program requirements. For autism evaluations, I use gold-standard instruments such as the ADOS-2 and ADI-R, along with comprehensive clinical interviews and structured measures, to provide diagnostic clarity aligned with DSM-5-TR criteria. My practice is currently in-network with Cigna. Clients with other commercial insurance plans may utilize out-of-network benefits. A superbill can be provided upon request; reimbursement is determined solely by your insurance provider. Please verify your benefits prior to booking. My work with pre-surgical and autism evaluation clients is grounded in a comprehensive, compassionate, and evidence-based approach to assessment. I understand that surgical procedures are not simply medical decisions—they are life transitions that impact emotional well-being, relationships, identity, and daily functioning. Similarly, seeking an autism evaluation is not just about obtaining a diagnosis—it is about gaining clarity, understanding patterns, and identifying meaningful supports. As part of the evaluation process, you will complete structured psychological measures tailored to your specific needs. For pre-surgical evaluations—including bariatric surgery, spinal cord stimulator (SCS), pain management, and cosmetic procedures—I utilize evidence-based tools such as the MBMD (Millon Behavioral Medicine Diagnostic) to assess emotional functioning, coping strategies, stress management, and overall readiness. For autism evaluations, I use gold-standard instruments such as the ADOS-2 and ADI-R, along with comprehensive clinical interviews and structured measures, to ensure diagnostic clarity aligned with DSM-5-TR criteria. Evaluations are available in person or via secure telehealth, depending on clinical appropriateness. During pre-surgical assessments, I evaluate emotional readiness, support systems, behavioral patterns, and the ability to adapt to long-term lifestyle changes. For autism evaluations, I examine developmental history, social communication, sensory processing, emotional regulation, and overall functioning. My goal is not to “pass or fail,” but to provide clarity, informed recommendations, and a supportive, professional experience. All evaluations are conducted collaboratively, without judgment, and in alignment with medical and diagnostic standards.

Berenice is a very professional clinician. She has helped me with my individual growth and learning about myself as a person. She practices great bed side manner by checking in to be certain of how I’m feeling and also providing me with tools that have allowed me to feel more secure in making my own decisions knowing they’re based on a rational thoughts rather than being impulsive. My anxiety has decreased during the time in which she has been my therapist and I think anyone struggling with self esteem, or self love will benefit from her as a clinician.

My first visit with Berenice was wonderful—very much in line with what I look for in a therapist. She listened very carefully to what I was saying and provided appropriate insights I had not considered without negating what I was feeling. While therapy requires ongoing visits and work on the part of the patient—not just the therapist—I was very please with my first visit and look forward to more in the future. I would recommend her highly.

As soon as you walk in, you are greeted with a smile! :) I recently had a session with Berenice and my two sisters and we were able to see the flaws of what made our relationship difficult for us to get along. After our session, me and my sisters were able communicate more and understand each other better. Without Berenice being so attentive and understanding, I don’t know how we’ve could of fixed our relationship. We had gone to another therapist to fix our issues, but we were never successful at finding the core of the problem. Berenice has empathy, something that it is hard to find in someone that truly cares about your feelings. I’m so glad we found her and I would highly recommend her, especially having had another therapist that just wasn’t attentively there.
