“I had a great experience with Miss Vega looking forward to future appointments. The only thing I would say about the Manhasset location for Sol Mental Helth is the parking situation. There’s very limited visitor parking and if you park anywhere else in the parking lot, your car could possibly be towed just be aware. Other than that 10 out of 10 experience.”

Getting to know Betsy Vega

I am a licensed mental health counselor with 10 years of experience helping adults navigate symptoms and daily stressors brought on by familial and relationship issues, work/school stress, identity and acceptance, and phase-of-life issues. My dedication to culturally competent care helps you work through barriers to achieving your goals in an empowering manner. I believe in the power of presence in one's life. If you are motivated to undercover patterns that are detrimental to you, the origins of these patterns, and how to work through breaking cycles that are not contributing to a healthy quality of life, please reach out today. I’m here to help in every way I can, and look forward to supporting you through your goals.

What should a new client know about working with you?

DISCLAIMER: not accepting Medicare or Medicaid plans at this time. My desire to become a therapist stemmed from seeing a need in my community and finding a deep misunderstanding of mental health, along with a resistance to services that could provide solace. As a woman of color, I grew up around certain stigmas toward mental health and wanted to contribute to helping those from all backgrounds feel understood. Later, in college, I had a positive experience with counseling that really solidified my mission of bringing care to others. Altogether, these experiences showed the value of providing a space where every patient feels seen and empowered, where they have autonomy and are encouraged to be the best version of themselves – a space I am dedicated to providing in every session in my practice now.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

It’s important that you feel cared for in our sessions, while being challenged in ways that help you to succeed. That’s why I take a warm, collaborative, and respectful approach to care, creating a welcoming and friendly environment where you can be fully transparent and feel understood, free from judgement. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, person-centered, motivational interviewing, Mindfulness, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy methods to help you gain insight in your daily life and learn to implement tools that will provide relief from stressors.
