Getting to know Blake Johnson
I am a public health social worker and with a wide range of training experience across a number of different professional contexts. As a domestic violence advocate, I have created and conducted trainings for domestic violence, LGBTQ issues, elder abuse, and sexual assault. I have also taught comprehensive sex-education to middle school students and workshops on healthy relationships with adolescents and young adults. In addition, I have led community debriefs related to violence and victimization.
In my trainings and workshops, I consider larger societal forces such as systemic oppression and how they form violence at the community and individual levels. Another area of expertise I have are evaluation and implementation of anti-oppressive practices in the workplace. I am passionate about social justice as well as experiential learning that meets the diverse needs of learners. Outside of work, I enjoy yoga, biking, reading, plant-based cooking, and traveling throughout the five boroughs. I received my master’s in social work and public health from Columbia University.
