Brennan Obrion, MS

Psychotherapist
233 Broadway, Ste 2360, New York, NY
If you've been living with chronic pain for a long time, you may have gotten tired of explaining your experience with pain to doctors, loved ones, and even yourself. When your pain lacks clear causes and traditional approaches haven’t worked, it can be difficult to know where to turn. Neuroplastic pain is complex, involving interplay between the musculoskeletal system, a sensitized nervous system, and how our brain processes sensory information based on past experiences and trauma. Together, we can work towards a greater understanding of what you are experiencing through a holistic, mind-body approach. My practice centers around AEDP blended with IFS, ACT, and mindfulness, relying on building trust and safety between counselor and client before processing trauma and emotional distress together. My care is neurodivergent- and LGBTQ+-affirming, particularly since chronic pain is more prevalent in these vulnerable populations. Chronic pain does not need to be a lifelong struggle, but it can become one if one believes it so. Taking active steps towards your own betterment is the hardest but most important first step, yet fulfilling change can be made, together.
