How often do you say "it's fine" when you know that is the farthest thing from the truth? Trying to keep it all together, yet feeling like everything is crashing down around you. You worry that if you take a moment for yourself, you will be letting someone else down or be seen as selfish. Your wants and desires are often pushed to the side because you don't have the energy to add another thing to your plate. You worry about doing everything you think you ?should? be doing, and struggle to know what you actually want-to live in a way that feels good to you. You long for a life that incorporates creativity, joy, and intention. You deserve to feel like yourself and find calm and joy in your life. Recognizing your feelings before they overwhelm you and processing all that you have experienced is not out of your reach. If you want to learn how to be there for others without losing yourself, and live a life that doesn't feel secretly empty, I'd love to help you get there. I hold a Master's degree in Art Therapy from The George Washington University, which informs my compassionate and creative approach to therapy. I offer teletherapy so you can access support from the comfort of your own space-no need for travel! It also provides flexibility in scheduling, making it easier to find a time that suits your busy lifestyle.

What should a new client know about working with you?

How I work: I believe that you are the expert of your own experiences and everyone has their true inner knowing. As we move through life other things begin to cloud that knowing (anxiety, depression, family’s expectations and other life experiences). I will work alongside you to get to know those experiences, because when we do, it becomes less cloudy and we can see that knowing more clearly. Together, we will bring out that inner wisdom and strength to give yourself permission to take ownership over your own life. Who I work with: Over the course of my career, I've had the privilege of working with a diverse array of individuals, including those facing challenges such as depression, anxiety, and substance use, as well as individuals experiencing homelessness and survivors of trauma. Many clients have entered therapy expressing concerns about the complexity of their experiences. I want you to know that I've listened to and supported individuals dealing with a wide range of issues. I encourage you to use our therapy space as you see fit. Whether it's to delve into recent matters or address long-standing concerns, this is your space to explore your unique therapeutic journey. What to Expect: The first session is different than all our other sessions. In the first session, we will take time to get to know each other. I will ask questions to get to know you and tell you a little about myself and my therapy style. We will take this time to expand on the assessment you completed before session and discuss what brings you into my office. We will then talk about some of your goals for therapy and what you are looking to get out of our time together.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I pride myself on making therapy an approachable and deeply human experience. I believe in the power of authenticity and showing up as my true self, with the hope that it gives you the same permission. I don't see you as a mere diagnosis, and I won't bombard you with psychobabble. Instead, I view therapy as a shared journey between two individuals navigating the complexities of the world we live in. I firmly believe that you are the expert of your own experiences, but am here to be that trusted guide, helping you reconnect with your authentic self. Together, we'll explore why you're here, identify what's working in your life, and openly discuss what isn't. We'll collaboratively find ways to make meaningful changes. In our sessions, you can expect a range of emotions – we'll laugh, we'll cry, we might even yell a little (or a lot), and we'll certainly celebrate your victories, big and small. I believe in you, wholeheartedly, until you learn to believe in yourself – and even then, I'll continue to believe in your potential for growth. My approach includes gentle challenges, not in a judgmental way, but to expand your perspective. I'll open the door to the possibility of different thoughts and behaviors, encouraging you to explore new pathways when life often feels like it has only one route.
