“Candace is the best! It’s like venting to a friend without feeling like you’re burdening them with your problems. A lot of times I have trouble connecting what I’m feeling to how it feels in my body. Candace always has a tool to help me reconnect with my body. I’ve been with her for almost 3 years and can see my progress with managing my anxiety in every day life. I see myself reaching for all the different tools depending on what’s going on. Don’t know what I’d do without her!!!!”

“I had been looking for a therapist due to depression, but could not get in for months wherever I searched. I finally found Candace, who got me in next day virtually with no issues! She is both kind and patient, but also helped gently push me to address the source of my feelings while giving me tools that I still use during hard moments. She has always been quick to respond to my messages, and flexible when my schedule conflicted with sessions. I have been with her prior to COVID and will use no one else, Candace is amazing!”

Getting to know Candace Bolz

I specialize in counseling women who are moving through major life transitions, longing to reconnect with their inner light, and seeking a deeper understanding of how their past continues to shape their present. The heart of my work is supporting women who are weary from carrying the weight of expectations and are ready to reclaim their sense of self.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I am a cis-woman who has experienced great love, great loss, and great therapy. I have been on a marriage adventure for more than 20 years. All of my days include laughter thanks to  our two dogs Winston and Mabel. I love a good book, gardening, and sharing laughs with my favorite people. My proudest moment was completing my Masters degree at the University of Kansas. My biggest hurdle has been hearing my own voice and trusting it. Clients are usually most surprised about my tattoos and that I cuss in session. What I’ve come to witness again and again in session is that, regardless of where we begin, we all share a common desire: to feel seen, heard, and safe within our bodies and our communities. At Live in Your Light, I am committed to creating a space where that becomes possible.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Booking a Session: After booking your first session you will be sent paperwork that will need to filled out prior to your first session. Please read all paperwork carefully. What to expect during first session: During the first session, we will go over your emotional and social history and clarify your goals. We will also pick a consistent time and day to meet on a weekly basis. Things to consider before booking a session: Therapy requires a real commitment of time, energy, and money. So take some time to think about whether "Live in Your Light" feels like the right fit for you.  As a therapist and as an individual, my values do not align with those who identify with MAGA. Because of this, I am not a potential therapeutic fit and ask that you do not reach out if this reflects your belief system.

I've had the opportunity to work with several therapists in the past, but none have made as much of an impact as Candace. From the very first session, her patience and understanding were evident, creating a safe space where I felt comfortable opening up. Candace has a unique ability to listen deeply and provide insightful feedback that has been instrumental in helping me navigate some of the most significant emotional challenges I've faced in my life. She also has a great sense of humor that makes it easier to be vulnerable. Her genuine care and compassion shine through in every interaction, making me feel valued and understood. Thanks to her thoughtful guidance and unwavering support, I've made remarkable progress in my grieving journey. I truly owe much of my healing to the tools and strategies Candace has equipped me with, and I am incredibly grateful for her influence in my life.
Candace is an incredible therapist. She is the type of person who was simply made for this profession. I was seeing her off and on over the course of three years. She’s helped me through grief, trauma, heartbreak, boundaries, and really forming strength in self love. I recently had my first child and owe it to Candace for building the foundation that has helped me through this life transition.
I have been seeing Candace for about four years, and I truly cannot say enough good things about her. When I first started therapy, I struggled with what felt like constant, perpetual anxiety. Over the years, Candace has helped me grow tremendously and, more importantly, has given me the tools to manage difficult moments on my own. She helped me create a game plan for recognizing when I am starting to spiral, understanding what I need in those moments, and learning how to comfort and ground myself rather than letting my anxiety take over. I feel like I have grown so much as a person because of the work we have done together. Candace is compassionate, thoughtful, and genuinely invested in helping you build skills that extend beyond the therapy room. I am incredibly grateful for the support and guidance she has given me over the last four years and would highly recommend her.
Candace is absolutely wonderful. I can’t recommend her enough. No BS, real results. Truly an amazing human as well and truly cares about each and every one of her patients. She uses practices that channels emotions within your physical body, even though my therapy was remote. I had real life tactics that I took out of my sessions, knowing I was equipped each week with what to do. Everyone needs a Candace in their life!
I absolutely appreciate Candace so much. She has helped me navigate some issues I never thought I could navigate through. I genuinely cannot wish for a better provider to talk to.
The absolute best sounding board. I have tried three providers and therapy didnt click until I met Candace. Started working with her to address some of my trauma but have grown to realize that having the ongoing support has changed how I show up in stressful times. I know that I dont have to react in the moment, I have a safe space to talk through both personal and professional issues.
I’ve been seeing Candace for several years, and I honestly can’t say enough good things about her. She is incredibly easy to talk to, and I’ve always felt comfortable, heard, and never judged. She truly listens and somehow knows when I just need support and when I need to be challenged to look at something differently. What I appreciate most is how genuine she is. I never feel like I’m just another appointment on her schedule. She remembers the things that matter and truly cares about helping you work through whatever you’re facing. Finding a counselor you really connect with isn’t always easy, and I feel very lucky to have found her. I would recommend Candace without hesitation.
Candace is authentic, non-judgmental, and always seems to know just when I need a gentle nudge. I appreciate the skills she's helped me to develop and find that I'm in such a better place. It's been work, but she's been there with me the whole way.
I’ve been seeing Candace regularly for over five years. Throughout this time, she has consistently been supportive, understanding, nonjudgmental and reliable. She is a great listener. And our time together is always exclusively focused on me. I feel fortunate to have had her consistent support during some tough times, and highly recommend her.
To put it simply, I leave each session feeling lighter, happier, overall at peace and looking forward to the next session. Candace created a safe environment for me to open up to her, cry to her, yell, feel all of the feelings all without judgement. She listens to understand. She challenges me to get deeper in my thoughts and understand why I feel the way I do. Not only is she an amazing talk therapist, she has helped me to meditate, understand my body and identify where I hold different traumas/experiences in my body and how to work those out. Candace is the first therapist where I’ve actually been able to apply her knowledge and things she’s taught me to real life situations. She is insanely knowledgeable and gifted at what she does! If you have the opportunity to work with Candace, don’t miss it. She’s truly a gem!
Candace is without a doubt the best therapist I have ever worked with. My personal growth has been exponential, and I directly attribute that transformation to her. She listens deeply, remembers every detail, and connects the dots between past traumas and current experiences. Even without a topic in mind, she comes prepared with conversations that keep my progress on track. She has helped me navigate life challenges I never thought I would get through. What sets Candace apart is her compassion and refreshing honesty. She meets you with deep empathy, yet is never afraid to offer the feedback you need to hear rather than just what you want to hear. She genuinely wants to see you thrive and will honestly tell you if you are in a good place to space out your sessions. Every single person I have recommended to Candace has had the same glowing experience. She is invaluable in becoming the best version of yourself, and I cannot recommend her highly enough.
